Sigh. They are better dimensions for football then the mcg. And everyone with a football brain knows it.The only thing that mocks the competition are the dimensions of the ground at gmhba.

As compared to the mcg which is an effing circle. That’s because it’s not a true oval mor akin to a velodrome
No one is saying it isnt in the rules. We are saying the rules are wrong and unjustly discriminate against a certain side. They need to change.Geelong finishing first has earnt a double chance and the right to a home state final against the 4th placed team.
That is as per AFL rules.
There is nothing about a home ground final in AFL rules, as it isnt a H&A game.
All Victorian based clubs know finals are at the G, and tickets are split equally.

That's why it's a unanimous sentiment, outside of Geelong circles, right?Sigh. They are better dimensions for football then the mcg. And everyone with a football brain knows it.
Will be happier with that then the mcg.The Cattery is always under construction, they'll finish this lot and then demolish another stand.
Only fair option is to play the game at Marvel, perfect compromise, neither team will be happy.
So, discounting two good reasons?Still waiting for some one to come up with a good reason to discriminate against geelong beyond tradition or money?
They could play all 22 there. Its still a massive disadvantage cos its not the city where our fans or players live. How many more games at the G do Geelong need before they realise they are not disadvantaged?
Geelong play 5 at the G per year
Essendon played 8, Hawks played 9.
Dogs just 2
Geelong are very familiar at the G, it is a neutral venue and the crowd will favour Collingwood no matter where the game was played.
But wont stop entitled Geelong flogs (not you specifically) thinking they are entitled to a H&A style game at Cat Park where the Geelong members dominate the crowd for a final.
Wow. im dumbstruck by that response. So, discounting two good reasons?
It's just funny that you request a "good reason" with the clause that it can't be any of the perfectly fine reasons already provided, because ... reasons.Wow. im dumbstruck by that response.
It will make a mockery of the competition if the clear competition leader is playing its home final in front of 75 thousand screaming pies fans at the ground the pies play 15 games at each season when the pies finished fourth.
we can not have a repeat of the ridiculous 2017 finals series.
surely the competition has moved beyond the amateurish of playing finals where crowds are highest at the expense of fairness. Other professional sports do not do this.
note the grand final is a little different because there are no home sides in a grand final and the crowds arent heavily biased to mcg tenants due to fans travelling and all the neutral fans. So please dont bring grand final arguments into this thread as its not equivalent.
play the game at either kardinia and if thats not possible (it is) then play at least docklands.
for the sake of the competition.

They are worse for Etihad based teams. No one is saying it isnt in the rules. We are saying the rules are wrong and unjustly discriminate against a certain side. They need to change.
Wtf are you talking about?Except it wasn’t a unanimous sentiment anywhere, and in fact wasn’t even a sentiment, until after we had won 3 flags and then stayed in the toilet bowl of finals for another half decade thereafter when everyone predicted that we would flush along with all the other refuse that comes and goes with the natural passing of time in most equalised leagues.
Suddenly people began to look for reasons for this happening. Same as they do with Sydney: cola and academies are what they get howled down over, for us it’s our ground or favourable draws or now - rofl - the country air.
The ground one is nice because it means we have reached a stage of refusing to disappear that even west coast didn’t reach: no one ever thought to question the shape of their ground even though it was almost identical in dimensions to ours. They just blamed the travel factor and the whole ‘access to local players’ thing.

Seeds wrote this about GMHBA:
That's what I was responding to.
Yes and you sarcastically said that it’s a unanimous sentiment outside of Geelong - which I would assume means you think the opposite: that outside of Geelong, people unanimously think the dimensions there are no good for footy.
My point being that I had never heard anyone say a thing about our dimensions until maybe 6-7 years ago
When you have 2 good reasons, a third would just be greedy.Still waiting for some one to come up with a good reason to discriminate against geelong beyond tradition or money?
I’m not getting why you care about GMHBA finals so much. You keep saying your away record is so good. So it doesn’t matter where you play. You got to the 2020 GF all away, toughen up princess. Have faith in your team.

Cool so you agree the cats get more of an advantage than any other team in Vic during the home and away.Tigers vs Hawks at MCG - no advantage.
Geelong vs Collingwood at MCG - advantage to pies.
I don’t mate.
Read the thread.
Nope. Most disadvantaged, only get 9 home games whilst everyone else gets 11. Greatest team of all! Continue to succeed despite the up hill battle they face every year.Cool so you agree the cats get more of an advantage than any other team in Vic during the home and away.
“Greatest team of all”.
And as you admit, a lot of those home games the rest of Vic get are of zero advantage, to your, as you admit, 9 of genuine advantage.Nope.
