Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

People need to realise that a final at KP against Collingwood would see Cats supporters outnumbered. You don't get your normal seats and to shove the opposition in that crappy pocket and cheersquad behind the points.
Oh shit. I totally had no idea we’d get a 50/50 crowd at home, which sounds way worse than a 30/70 crowd at the G. Thanks for pointing that out 👍

Still don’t get your point. As if they don’t serve coffee on the bus.
Well I'm not sure how else to explain it. Geelongs home ground and where we train is in Geelong. The players that play for Geelong go to work everyday at the ground in Geelong. There would be a familiar routine and comfortability with playing at Geelong.
Collingwood players place of work is across the road from the MCG so the comfortability and routine will not change.
I guess it's like living near your office where you walk down to work everyday and then your boss says you have to do a work conference and some other office out of town or some shit and you have to get up extra early and catch a train, I dunno mate **** it's not that hard.

You have to get up extra early to go to work in the afternoon?

Stop drinking at midnight then, instead of sunrise.

Guess what?
Geelong are a Victorian team, that's how it works for Victorian teams, no real advantage unless playing a non-Vic team.
Yes I'm pretty clear about that. Should we have an advantage though? If not, fine, whatever. I was just suggesting that most people's arguments about Geelong having a home game at GMHBA comes back to the ground not being appropriate for a final so let's park that debate. Should Geelong as the higher ranked team have some advantage over the team they are playing being 4th? If the answer is just no because your Victorian then fine but that's not a great reason is it?

It's how it is, I don't see threads with supporters crying about other Vic sides finishing on top and don't get an advantage because 4th plays at the same ground.

I'll say this again just in case you missed it, there is no such thing as home ground advantage because you finished higher, it is home state advantage.

Plenty of Geelong players have plenty of experience at the MCG. I’d also suggest that more knowledge is learnt about how a ground plays in the first 10 games than the next 100.

Selwood 99
Hawkins 87
Smith 114
Dangerfield 53
Tuohy 79
Guthrie 55
Blicavs 57
Bews 34
Stewart 32
Rohan 28
Ceglar 40
Miers 16
Parfitt 27
Hope selwood gets chaired off the ground for his 100th MCG game

Trying the insult route now hey?

Try all you like, but it seems you can't even understand rules, I am sure you have been told many times, so who is the dumb one?
What are you on about? I wasn't even arguing, you indicated you didn't understand how there's a difference for Geelong players needing to travel to the MCG compared to playing at home. I'm not sure how much of a difference there is and wasn't even arguing the significance, just stating there is a difference.

All teams gain advantage from playing at home, that's kinda the point of them. The Melbourne clubs gave up some of their advantage for money, and now sook that other clubs (namely Geelong) can get both money and advantage. Geelong was not immune, we too signed onto become a Docklands tenant, but we backed out very quickly and thank god we did. What a s**t show that place is (financially for the tenant clubs).

As for your Pies, they get to use the same change rooms (ponsford stand) for both home and away games. They also have a contract with the MCG to play at least 14 games there (9 home, the rest away). Geelong do not play away games at KP, so the pies have the advantage here by at least 5 games worth (14 minus 9 for those playing at home).

"Consistently choking in finals" assumes we were a decent chance every year from 2012-2021. Outside of 2013 and 2020 we didn't have a team capable of winning a flag, and if you look at our H+A form you'd know that. Playing at KP didn't flatter us in 2015 when we missed the finals, and if you look at our H+A record outside of KP in that time, we're just as dominant as at KP (there's a post around here somewhere with the stats, trying to find it).

Outside of 2013 and 2020 didn’t have the team to win the flag based on H&A form …????

2014: finished third and equal top with a 17-5 record.
2016: finished 2nd and equal top with a 17-5 record.
2017: finished 2nd and equal top with a 15-6-1 record
2019: finished top with a 16-6 record.

Over the last decade also had a 65% H&A winning record against teams they played in finals within that season…..

But yeah, convince yourself your team hasn’t choked in most finals series for a decade, they just didn’t have a team capable of winning a flag…….

They have finished top or equal top time and time again and have dominated H&A against finals opponents - losing finals to them and often getting flogged is the very definition of choking.
