Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

It will make a mockery of the competition if the clear competition leader is playing its home final in front of 75 thousand screaming pies fans at the ground the pies play 15 games at each season when the pies finished fourth.

we can not have a repeat of the ridiculous 2017 finals series.

surely the competition has moved beyond the amateurish of playing finals where crowds are highest at the expense of fairness. Other professional sports do not do this.

note the grand final is a little different because there are no home sides in a grand final and the crowds arent heavily biased to mcg tenants due to fans travelling and all the neutral fans. So please dont bring grand final arguments into this thread as its not equivalent.

play the game at either kardinia and if thats not possible (it is) then play at least docklands.

for the sake of the competition.
What makes a mockery of the competition is the fact that you have such a huge advantage playing on your narrow shit heap. You can strangle teams who are not used to its dimensions. You have a unique situation. Collingwood share their "home" ground with a number of other teams and you get to play there often. You haven't struggled there during the past 15 years have you?

don't you blokes already get enough of an advantage playing games at that dump throughout the h&a season and only being an hour from the g n marvel

best fixture in the comp that helps you finish top 6 regularly

if you want finals there just build a 100k seat stadium and guarantee that many will show up in a final. pretty simple

Geelong only clear leader due to having a soft fixture. Only top 8 team they played twice was the Bulldogs and they were lucky to be top 8. Played both North and West Coast twice. The un-even fixtures make a mockery of the competition.

Why don't you just play more games at the MCG each season, rather than so many games at Kardinia?

It's called home "state" advantage, not home ground advantage.

Geelong being the only Victorian team with a suburban home ground advantage is already a ridiculous concession they get

It doesn't matter they earned a home final otherwise whats the point in finishing top 2??

You get a free home final because the league cares more about $$ than integrity.

Lol we won a flag in Perth, Richmond won one in Brisbane, and every interstate team has to win in Melbourne.

Maybe you should play at a real ground more often

LOL

This thread is exactly why Geelong will lose. They are still scarred from the Richmond game many years ago.

The main reason I wanted Collingwood to lose today was because they would have one foot in the prelim.

All week I've been thinking of how Dangerfield pissed his pants when he walked on the field vs Richmond "oohhh ahhhh it was our home game!! but it was like an away game it's not fair!!, where's my mummy!!".

LOL

Getting a bit precious that your team will be outnumbered by thousands upon thousands of COLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD supporters screaming all kinds of naughty words directed at the players (and umpires lol).

Geelong have shown throughout this season that it doesn't matter what ground they play at, they win more often than not. So why would it be any different this time ? A bit scared that the crowd will negatively affect players like Dangerfield, Rohan, Miers, Gutherie (who all go missing when the heat is on anyway).

GNHBA isn't a proper ground, and to add insult to injury you're in the middle of an upgrade - the construction works don't present well on tv. Not to mention you don't have the same capacity as the MCG and the AFL want as many bums on seats as possible, the MCG has been starved of finals footy for years - it's time for the finals to return HOME.

Other professional sports don't do this?

Happens in NRL finals all the time.

It does in later weeks. In week one each side can host at their suburban ground if they want, and Canberra and Newcastle can play all finals at home aside from the GF

Nonetheless it’s not like anything is going to change so I don’t know why any Geelong fans bother bringing it up. We need to win there anyway so that’s what we should be looking towards

And such a ridiculous concept as home state advantage only harms two teams. Gold coast and geelong.
