I would have said St Kilda. Can still make a case for them now actually.prior to 2008, was hawthorn still clearly geelong's biggest rival or did that create it to a degree?

I'd go for Collingwood. I'm actually quite surprised at how many people say Hawthorn. They've played a grand total of 6 finals against each other over 86 years, including 3 Grand Finals. We've played 3 Prelim finals alone against Collingwood in the last 4 years. Plus at least 4 Grand Finals I can think of (1930, 1937, 1952, 1953). Not even a contest in my opinion.
Late charge from Carlton
Rivalries aren't only born from finals. Some of the H&A games played between the Hawks and Geelong have been awesome spectacles and spectacular in so many different ways. I think since 1989, over ALL games, the Hawks take the cake.
The fact that we haven't beaten them in a final since 63 also adds to that assessment.
For the past decade, I would say the Saints. The Hawks games have only been classics since 2007/08.
I can't agree with this. I'm over 50 and I would say since the '89 granny. That we lost the next 3 just made '89 worse, given how close it was.
