The double dashes give it away.

With all the talk about Merrett, how harsh did the Saints treat their former captain? Poor bastard.
The double standards are amazing aren't they?
1) Captain is Captain and can't go anywhere, you must be loyal
2) Captain - off you go mate.

I had an old boss once who very much told me to treat yourself like a Company with your family and friends as shareholders. A better offer comes along, take it. Because Damm sure your employer will boot you if they want to.

This shits me
Was all for taking a pay cut to go to the Cats

No issue with contract being renegotiated when its a proper trade.
When salary dumps come in though we definitely need a stop on it. Would hate to see a team give away a player and pick to a team to take the cap pressure, only for the team to then spread the load - if you weren't going to renegotiate before, you shouldnt be able to after

And bye bye Mason Cox.

Premiership Magpie delisted after 207 games with three clubs - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1443197

Na he'd be on a half decent wicket at pies surely someone like north offer him a 2 year basic deal he'd take that.

That would be the most Norf thing to do.

Draft a billion midfielders.

Play Tom Mitchell ahead of them.

Tom is great answer for a trivia question.

Which player, lost a grand final with one team, won a Brownlow with a second team and won a grand final with a third team?

Feel a bit for Tom Mitchell. Not that long ago the world was his oyster, he was racking up record possessions, won a Brownlow and looked unstoppable - now, doesn't even get to retire on his own terms, unceremoniously delisted while Sidey and Pendles play on at 54yo

To be fair, Sidearse still makes a decent impact. Pendles, probably leadership keeping him in the side apart from gunning for the record. The brownlow year was before Titch's leg break, he wasn't the same player after that.

Yep - can't argue with any of that, still makes me a little sad though... maybe the Hawthorn tragic in me doesn't like seeing any of our boys on the scrap heap. It was amazing how fast the game passed him by, even after he'd recovered from the leg; the whole dynamic had shifted and he was suddenly inefficient, ineffective and a liability.

Looking back, I think Buckley was right about him to a degree. I thought his impact depended on his team mates, he kept the ball flowing but it would be the team mate that had the impact. As our midfield got weaker, it became more obvious that he wasn't a game winner like we needed him to be. Pre leg break I thought he had more impact when it came to extracting the ball and keeping it moving, e.g. tackle laid on team mate, Titch crashed the tackle, extracted the ball out preventing a stoppage and let us gain more ground. Didn't notice that as much from 2020 onwards.

Actually having won a premiership would make that bitter pill much easier to swallow. Plenty of great players get to retire on their own terms but without a premiership. No doubt every single one would swap in an instant given that choice.
