Isn’t the Australian accent influenced by the Irish accent given the large number of Irish convicts who came here originally?

I can't blame ya. Both Irish and American accents are strongly rhotic which isn't really a thing here in Australia. Irish accents sound strongly American to my muddled brain too.

It's interesting that two of the accents both heavily influenced by Irish immigration are Australian and Bostonian, neither of which are rhotic.

Incredibly ballsy move which paid off in spades. We got Hodge (1) and Mitchell (36) with the selections we received from Fremantle then we get Croad back a few years later for Pick 10. All three played a critical role in the drought breaking 2008 Premiership.

We lost McPharlin who went on to be a fantastic player for Fremantle but other than that Fremantle got the raw end of the deal. Just 2 years of Croad and their Pick 10 selection Ryley Dunn only played 8 games in 4 years.

Like many I was devastated to lose Croad but that was quickly forgotten/forgiven when he came back in 2004 and finished his career a Premiership player.
