Probably is one of our best drafts considering how bad we've been

The Melbourne board is the most optimistic on BigFooty, and that's why I love it. There's always - ALWAYS - a silver lining. :rainbow:

I've got you covered. 🄳

You should be de-modded for this.

Anyone else who has seen/heard about this? I suspect it’s an oversight from all involved but it seems like a needless PR own goal when supporter morale is at low levels.

I believe that there is nothing wrong here, provided the coterie is making a significant financial contribution to the Club. In the same vein, if a 'Women of Melbourne' style group was hosting a Ladies function, with the same guest speakers, I would have no problem.

I'm all for equality, but this isn't news.

Don't think it's a massive deal but it's just pretty dumb and disrespectful, you just have to do your research on these sorts of things.

Who gives a flying ****

Do I get to go into an all women's gym and start working out because equality?
If women held an all women's Day event it wouldn't make news, don't be silly.

The whole notion of international woman's days is stupid as shit.

The Australian club is a male member only but allows women guests. Nothing in that article saying women can’t attend this coterie event.

If only everyone had a common sense approach like this, and not just find ways to be outraged and offended by everything, the world would be far simpler.

I too find nothing wrong, pretty embarrassing that these types of articles keep getting bought up in Australian media just to keep fuelling the woke brigade.

1. The coterie is an important supporter group and they can hold their season launch on the moon for all I care.

2. It’s at least questionable that a club that is apparently concerned with the optics of the term ā€˜chairman’ has no problem sending heavy hitters to a fancier version of the He-Man Woman Hater’s Club. At the very least it’s a novel experiment in testing the anger/comfort levels of the female support.

3. On a sexism scale of 0 to St Kilda a decade ago - it is pretty minuscule. However, it would genuinely be a non-news story if the event were held at the billions of other venues that don’t have a policy of excluding half the population from membership.

4. Topkent should be allowed to work out at Fernwood or the Canuck equivalent. Maybe even start your own gym, TK? A safe space for custard arms, cankles and a bitten off **** is warranted.

5. plan b - the MFC should be practical and use its significant clout to ban International Women’s Day.

I don't care ...
Then goes on to list reasons why he cares

If a venue wants to open and only host men all power to them, same for the female equilavent

Given the nature of the news cycle of the past month or so, and the closeness of IWD, it was a pretty dumb PR move to host it at a literal 'boys club'.
Ultimately pretty harmless, and doesn't really need national news coverage but surely someone twigged that it mightn't be a great look at the current time?

Current time? Some ****wit would bitch about this literally any time. There's no 'good' time for this anymore

This journalist also provided us with such classic articles as:

and who could forget:
How Angus the cat helped a mental health royal commission witness feel more equal giving her testimony
let's get back to reality people.

The ABC

Kicking goals.

I know it's a public holiday on Monday in Melbourne but did they have to schedule our match then? Already get stooged once a year with Queens Birthday...guess I'll be watching the replay that night.

Confirmed now, daw and deakyn smith signed with us. Unfortunately Kobe farmer won’t be joining us as much as I wanted him he didn’t show much.

I think we still have list spots, so he will play for Casey and maybe mid season if he improves
