It wasn't the go home factor , it was because key personnel didn't think he was good enough. One club legend said in a meeting with a member of the Industrial Magpies , that Jurrah was not good enough for VFL football.[/quote]

Which French philosopher said "The more things change, the more they stay the same".

Collingwood have some big decisions to make if they lose this week. Even if they win, anything short of a premiership is going to expose some poor choices in the last few years. This trade a draft period is critical for us;

For me there should be 3 goals;

1. Land a big bodied ruckmen. Missing on King was a poor decision when he was going so cheaply and many astute posters in this board thought him a great option for Fraser. This year Seaby is an option and with Burns there he maybe an advocate for one of our players in the Eagles lineup. Seaby and Wood rucking would give us the opportunity to play Fraser fwd which would solve the second goal.

2. A dynamic forward. Most good Collingwood judges acknowledge that Cloke is still only 22 and his next 6-7 years are going to be his best. If he can fix his goalkicking (like Riewoldt has done) then he will be a power forward. But we need another option and the jury for me is out on Anthony and Dawes. Anthony not big enough and cant take a pack mark whereas Dawes mobility an issue. For me trading into a spot where Panos becomes an option is a must. He is the best forward I have seen come through the juniors for a couple of years.

3. A ball winning midfielder. No question that Sidey, Macca and Beams are coming along but gee Cousins would have been handy on Saturday! I think the staff had faith that OBree was a better option and maybe thru the H&A season he was but gee he was exposed on Sunday. Thats hindsight though and the question becomes should we look at one this year. Harris, Salopek are options? In some ways this is the least of the priorities as I think the kids will develop quickly and getting better first use through a proper ruck will also help.

So for me;

B Clarke, Prestigiacomo, Maxwell
HB OBrien, N.Brown, Shaw
C Thomas, Pendlebury, McCarthy
HF Dick, Cloke, Davis
F Medhurst, Anthony, Fraser
Foll Seaby, Swan, Didak
Int Beams, Sidebottom, Lockyer, Reid
Emerg L.Brown, Toovey, Wellingham

Have also added guys like Clarke whose run and skill I think are sorely missed. Have left out Johnson to fill his spot because as good as Johno hunts the skill isnt as good as Clarke and he is just as good a line breaker as Johno.

With 2 genuine rucks playing then L.Brown becomes an emerg as I think you want to develop N.Brown and B.Reid. L.Brown would be the first bloke you turn to when an injury occurs.

Obree goes as I think after we saw 03 Mick moved on with players who were senior and didnt perform on big stage....Macca gets that spot.
