I rate Hartlett highly but he has had no luck with injuries. One player I have continuously thought would slot into our forward line beautifully is Brown from the eagles (the twin). Strong agile smart player originally from Melbourne. Offer the eagles a player and a 2nd round pick.

They've got a couple of others I would be having a look at as well. Ash Hansen and Ben McKinley. But you're right, we really need another target up there to give Fevola a chop out.

Just pick the best CHF available in the draft

Ash Hansen I am not sure about. Injury prone? Ben Mckinley playes the game similarly to Edwards and I believe Edwards has alot of upside and footy smarts. Mckinley is one though we could look at but I think Brown is the ideal player. Would slot in straight away with our game plan. West Coast would rate him highly but we could offer him more game time considering the eagles have jk, mckinley and jones to play. Either way we should try and poach a victorian boy from the eagles.

Anyone could see CHF was going to be our weakness at the start of the year, and so it has panned out. The club knows this and I'm sure will be doing everything it can to fix it.

Not that was why we lost today. Way too many other reasons for that.

No, it is simple!

Dont worry about getting players from other clubs, develop and PLAY are our own.

Couldnt believe Edwards got dropped when he did earlier in the season. Must persevere with Hartlett and Edwards and play them.

CHF is our biggest problem going forward. Today it was the ruck but we have invested 2 high draft picks into this and must be patient. This was the road we chose.

CHF is a problem as it won't be 3-4 before a draftee would be able to be a presence up forward. I dont think edwards will fill this role, he is a good player but we have fisher and that is the exact role of edwards. He isn't the player we are looking for. I feel hartlett and waite are the only players on our list that could fill this position. IF hartlett could stay fit, he is perfect.

Id rather give you Chris Masten then Mitch Brown. The best youngster we have and hes on a 3 year deal. Knee reco stuffed his year but when he comes back hes gonna plonk in at CHF and star. He COULD be the next Jonathon Brown. Would be too much of a risk to give him up.

You should sign Ryan Murphy from Fremantle for a 2nd rounder + a midfielder.

If we so much as enquire about bringing Ashley Hansen to the club, I'll be sick. He is TERRIBLE. We'd be much better off playing Hartlett.

One that I would look at fairly closely is Ryan Murphy. We'd be able to get him reasonably cheaply, and he's a good mark and a great kick for someone his size. Would be a good option for CHF.

Then you won't be needing Josh?

Agree J. Hansen is a dud :thumbsd:

Murphy will be on our target list as there has been whispers he wants out.

What about Carlos? Can we develop him into a CHF?

There is no player at our club who can play CHFfor us at the moment. Edwards is like fisher a good 3rd or 4th tall and hartlett doesnt do enough at afl level and can't stay fit. We dont need to get anybody from another club we just need to draft a bloody fwd rater than another mid!!!!!

Really......for how long ?....Edwards is no CHF and has yet to kick 1 bag in 3 years for the Ants.......he is one dimensional and his kicking for goal is poor....... with Aussie tearing it up recently in the Ants and being younger with more development left in him he is next tall in line to get some time to establish himself at senior level

l cannot understand why any Carlton fan would even suggest Carlos as key forward, he has been tried there and he is not good enough, he can only run in a straight line, he is a defender and that is it.

We currently do not have the solution on our list to the CHF problem, and we must seek other options at year-end, options such as Mckinley,Murphy,Thorpe,Sellar & others would be looked upon to improve this area in 2009

Just pick the best CHF available in the draft

Don't agree with that - CHFs take years to develop. the time is now - we have a decent team already

The bulldogs picked up Welsh who may not be a true key position player but has certainly been a good forward with presence that has contributed well

Would be happy with Murphy. Don't think he's happy out west? Looks a likely type and won't cost us much, and can actually kick the ball 40 metres. I'm hoping we pick up a young CHF in the draft this year as well - many stress best available, but we're looking at pick 7-10, and looking back, at this stage of the draft you're just as likely to get a dud/average player as not (although that said, the CHF would obviously have to be highly rated).

The Blues made a mistake not taking Welsh in the Pre-season draft this year when it was very apparent that our forward options would be limited this year, even though he is not a long term player two to three years of a 30-50 goal forward would have been a better outcome than the decision that was made.

Time is definitely not "now" if you follow things closely enough.

How can we have a "decent team already" if we are talking about having a one-man forward line. There is your contradiction in one fell swoop. Get Fev some immediate help by all means but not at the expense of the future. The sheer fact that we have so many 'what we need is' and 'If only we had a' threads should tell us something.

You don't kill your chances of gaining what you desire for the sake of a little relief from your desires. It is dangerous logic and we have been doing that kind of self-sabotage for years now.

Hartlett will be fine. Lot's of players have prolonging injury concerns at some stage. Let's hope Hartlett's come to an end because the bloke will be better for Fev than Lucas is for Lloyd.

Get a CHB and put Waite forward, wont have to give up anywhere near as much that way.
With Jammo, Carlos and Thorn down back with Austin a work in progress, I am happy with Waite at CHF (sometimes, like today, his decision making lets him down in the backline - I think he is always going to look like a green racehorse)

Hopefully Harts can get on the park to show us what he has got and if Hammer makes it as a ruckman, Kreuse may well be a CHF

I hope Edwards gets a go but he does not strike me as a CHF and please believe me when I say McKinley (who is 8cm shorter than Fisher) will never play CHF
