Catters,

Isn't the solution simple? Get a social club membership. That is what I have for the Saints. Hoping I will get to use it in the future!

Good luck with the finals as well.

BRILLIANT.

I reckon we may have added an extra 20,000 extra spots now for the members.

I bags Cameron Mooneys shoulders. :)
I bagsed Shannon's. Oh, wait....

:(

Thats why the system works :p to keep you out haha

Nah seriously the system i suggested would work. People who spend the most money at the club on memberships should be rewarded.
NO NO NO No..

Top suggestion Rizzo!!!! No Grand Final for Eliiiiza. I like it. :D
(And ill be in the 2nd category)

Don't make me call you a racist! :p

Alright, so I go to training, go to VFL, go to VFL training, yet... I'm not deemed to be a good enough member because I haven't been in the country since late 2003?

Yep!

Of course not, but there has to be a solution, because I don't think the present strategy is it.

Dont get me started Heapoi.

Atleast 4 kids at my school (Who I never knew actually went for Geelong. You know the type. If anyone asks them who they go for, they do not follow football. But all of a sudden they know it all, or their family goes for Geelong. Funnily enough, they have not been to a game for 5 or 6 years) have rushed up to me asking me if I am going to get tickets to the Grand Final if we play (What a stupid question. I would skip my mothers funeral to go to a Grand Final) and then proceed to tell me that they love they way Geelong have been playing (What the **** would they know, bandwagoners) and tell me there Dad knows people who have AFL memberships etc etc and will go to the Grand Final.

These god damn w***ers are taking seats when passionate members miss out. I bet all they will yell (well they wont yell, they will speak loudly) "I love you Gary Ablett" etc etc while then asking a family member who 'Number 3' is, and why did the other team get a free kick.

I know which type of supporter I want standing beside me.

And all hell will break loose if I do not get a ticket and they do. **** I will be cut.

End of rant.

What about us devoted members that have professional careers and can't afford to spend days lining up? Are we lesser supporters?

Or those of us that have been members for a long period, but are working for companies overseas or the ADF. I usually cannot get to games because of my work, so should I miss out because I cannot line up for a few days.

I think it is not a bad system, and gives everyone an equal opportunity to get there, not just the ones that can take a lot of time off to line up for tickets.

EXACTLY the style of supporter im referring to. They shouldnt have the entitlement to take GF tickets from supporters like you, that is if we make it!

The new system for obtaining grand final tickets is both unfair and inappropriate for those supporters who have stuck with the cats throughout both the hard and the good times. If Geelong do make the grand final each Geelong member, exception of social and September members, will have approximately a 30% chance of obtaining a seat in what would undoubtedly be the cats biggest game in their long history. The abolishment of the traditional ‘first in, best dressed’ policy means that those who are most passionate and fanatical will be unable to show their dedication by lining up for hours on end, leaving the ‘fair weather’ supporters to come out of their little holes to snatch the tickets from the most devoted fans. Personally, I am aware of several individuals who are admittedly Geelong members; however rarely attend games and when they do often only attend for the social occasion rather that for the football. These are the same supporters who, when the cats aren’t travelling so well, dismiss us as a football team continually bagging and condemning the club. Why is it that these supporters should be able to snatch the opportunity from the diehards who attend every week rain, hail or shine? To those supporters who only barrack hard for the cats when the weather is fine and the winning streak has begun, please stay away from the GF tickets and allow those who most deserve their chance to, with any luck, watch the cats take the flag in ’07!
You can shove it. I don't have time to line up, does that make you a better person/supporter than me? Hardly. I paid for my membership, same as you, I deserve the same rights. I couldn't give a rats about how devoted you are.

If they use an AFL membership they will then not be 'competing' with you to get a ticket. And that's sad there are those types out there. Everyone I know are quite happy to admit they are Geelong supporters. (And there are lot of them out in the western suburbs of Melbourne).

Look at the end of the day NO ONE is happy with allocation of Grand Final tickets. For instance back in 1995, I didnt 'line up'. I rocked up to a Ticketmaster about 12pm that day they went on sale and got a ticket. Due to a computer error, they had about 6 left over. I didnt really deserve the ticket, but i was in the right place at the right time.

Its called Karma. Or not.. that was a horrible GF.

Anyway in a perfect world we'd all get to go. But its not, so shit happens and just watch it on TV! :D

I do not think how many years you have been a membr reflects on how much of a supporter you are. I know people wh oget to three or four games a year, but if you ask them a stat about a player, they could answer it quicker than 90% of people who are members.

Congratulations. That had nothing to do with my post.

If they just decide to follow Geelong because we are going well, while daddy knows someone who can get them tickets is shithouse for 70% of us, who are members of the club but will miss out as only 30% of members will get allocated tickets.

He can line up out the front of ticketmaster all he wants. I'll get mine over the phone while in a warm, comfy chair :)

Basically, if you can't be bothered to allocate, or arrange some time to line up for a ticket, then you are definitely not as committed as someone who would line up. Now, that is excluding those who absolutely can't make it, due to things such as being overseas.

The beauty of the old system was, apart from a few exceptions, that it separated those who did and didn't put the effort in. It was the most fair way to decipher who got the tickets.

Lol at all the people taking it personally...

Of course they are, we're on top of the ****ing ladder...

Sorry for thinking that was the whole point.. the chance of attending the grand final.

Would you like me to speak slower for you.

I will not be happy if people are able to get tickets to the Grand Final (if we play) through relatives having AFL Memberships etc etc who do not follow the club, while the actual club members who support the club only have a 3/10 chance of getting a ticket.

Easier?

"Can't be bothered". I don't like this suggestion? Insulting. I like the new system, gives me a chance. I don't care about the chances of others. Sorry!

It's not insulting if it's the truth. Could you be bothered to line up, if we reverted back to the original system?

Well that's life. Deal with it ya sook.

As I said, no one is happy with GF allocation of the seating.
