I’ll take a guess at 2 that we aren’t resigning at it’s 100% Taheny and Constable won’t be at the club next year.
I’m not sure Brownless’s time is up yet
Shown abit this season and seemed to have matured abit

Some of those Rookies

It will depend on who we bring in and who we loose.

Id say Constable, Tarheny, Jenkins, Stanley may all go off the list. Narkle may be traded.

From that list i'd say Brownless and Taheny are definitely gone. Jarvis and Jenkins probably too. Zuthrie should be 100%, but they have some sort of weird idea he's an afl level player, despite continually proving he's not. Okunbar is a hard one. Being an irish import very late to the game, there is something to work with, but he can no longer be cat B so has he shown enough to be upgraded? Might take him another few years. Might be worth sticking him in the vfl team next year and see if he continues to improve.

Chook? Who knows. Might get another year, might be out the door.

It's 6 list changes we have to change every year isn't it? Of that list i'd keep Chook another year to keep working on his fitness. Offer Okunbar a vfl spot. The rest would be gone. Sign up everyone left on the list.

3 draft selections

We really only need to take 2 though since one of ours will be upgrading Atkins if i am correct

Technically still 3 if they do that.

At best we use a R3 for that which leaves us 3 R2's atm

I suspect the reason why we did not participate in the MSD is it would create another issue come end of the year

Didn’t they change the rule on needing to use a draft pick for that a couple of years ago?
I think Turbo said it fairly well.

If say we have pick 19-20 and 50 from what i remember we would use 2 picks in the draft and use 50 to upgrade Atkins.

I could of missed something that changed or just don't remember it though.

Of course this is just an example no idea how many picks we want to take into the draft.

We may only take 3 and use 2 in the draft using the 3rd to upgrade Akins or we may end up with more due to trades and end up taking 5.

We will have to wait and see who we keep and who we let go and who wants out before we really know.

I'd sincerely hope that Narkle would stay now.

Taheny, Constable, Jenkins, Brownless, Stanley and Z.Guthrie are all dubious to still be on the list next year. Typically though we don't do major culls in any one year, rather stagger it over 2-3. It may save one or two from the above list. Whether Selwood and/or Henderson retire also affects the above as well.

This will upset a few on here

I don't mind him at all... His good footy is good, ( he did play well against the pies ) but I still think he should be dropped at times this year...
Which there is nothing wrong with getting dropped, as the sad thing is, the more and more games a player like him keeps performing bad, the bigger the fire gets as it fuels the fire

I dont mind him either, when he was played higher up last year i think he looked really good, pity his bad games are really bad and seem to destroy his confidence, needs a goal i reckon 😂

Who knows. He may be happier. Merrit was out of Ess last year, it can change. However if a player like Narkle gets wind of us looking at another player that may push him out then ...

First new contract since 2019, cap increases will almost certainly net him an increase.

The salary cap decreased this year though and not sure if it's actually returning to pre-covid levels from next year or still going to be at a lower than originally anticipated level

And it could also be a case that in accepting a 3-year deal that he's also agreed to terms of a lower yearly salary than if he was to accept a 2-year deal

Thought some may find the following from the Kolodjashnij re-signing article on the AFL website interesting

The Tasmanian has been one of the Cats' most reliable defenders in recent years and one of backline coach Matthew Scarlett's first-choice players when available.

The 193cm Kolodjashnij missed three games earlier this season with a knee injury but has since returned to play a crucial role with Mark Blicavs moving higher up the ground.

And we probably already know these names - Other key Cats out of contract at season's end include Gary Rohan, Rhys Stanley, Brad Close, Tom Atkins, Gryan Miers and unrestricted free agents – Joel Selwood, Jed Bews and reigning best and fairest Cam Guthrie.

Thats true but we have 3 R2s and a R3 so we wont throw them away..2 picks only happens if we trade say our last R2 for someones FR2 or FR3.
