Still remember big Daws going down in the Saints game in 2013.

Was in great form and that might've been our season done right there (with the other factors e.g. Chapman).

I remember that game like it was yesterday. I was sitting behind the goals where it happened. The thumping win over the Saints was bitter sweet because I knew we'd struggle in the ruck for the rest of the season.

If Daws was in the side, in the form that he was in, there's no way we'd lose to Freo in that first final. We would have met the Hawks in the Grand Final and FMD it would have been epic. Daws and Chapman and we'd have buried the Hawks.

Didn't happen. Hawks three-peated instead. Ah well, them's the breaks....

They’ve had some good rucks Spider burton, Jeff White, Troy Simonds but Darcy is on track.

Id say he is playing roles forward, back and and mid. I think he may be another who has grown a lot and is now a player who is adapting to his height.
Green as Kermit but in a year where there is little info , the two games I watched I ahve liked him. The last two week the Falcons have beaten the top two teams , and have found form and this kid and few others have contributed.

Gribble was another that I can see with development could become something but is a long way to go. He has that sort of Duncan look around the ball. The kid for Bendigo who stood out was Harvey Gallagher.

There is talent but it would not surprise me if takes a while to bleed thru at afl level.

I really doubt that a contracted Darcy will be traded for that. Freo would want more. Maybe Neale as a ruck replacement as well. If he was uncontracted and saying he wanted out different stroy

I mean its not really Narkle is OOC and if he goes we wont get much more than a R2/3 for him (yes hes a better player than that but thats what we will get) Darcy is contracted so they hold all the cards..if we get Darcy for next year the price it will cost us will prob be one supporters wont like imo..then again i honestly think if we had him now we'd win the flag this year so that might be a price we are prepared to pay. Ottens/Moloney comes to mind here. Be interesting to see what happens.

I agree FR1 and Clark wont be enough unless Clark becomes best 22 this year and kills it or unless they think we will finish bottom 8 next year (unlikely with darcy in our side).

That said even if we finish top 4 next year FR1, Clark, Neale (i imagine they would ask for him) plus the fact that we have a couple of Fr2s this year, theres enough pieces there to get the deal done if they are willing. But Darcy might not want to come or they might flat out refuse to trade him for any price and back themselves to retain him when he is OOC next year.

That said i have zero doubt we will be putting a big contract to darcys manager this trade period and trying to turn his head to us.

Agree they won’t want to trade him but they’ve also got Lobb and Meek. And they’ll probably draft another as the WA teams love a stockpile of rucks. I’m assuming Darcy won’t come at least not until ooc.
What should we do then? Do the work on him for when he’s ooc and keep Stanley for another year? I’m not convinced Esava can ever be a number 1 ruck. Or that Fort can be. Stanley can some weeks but not others.
We've got a couple of developing rucks which is great but won’t help us for a while. There is little else out there, one of the giants rucks?

We will know soon enough if he is staying at Freo. If his manager is any good he will get a lucrative extension out of Freo, maximising his good form this season.

I think it's one of those that throws out 100 rumours in the hope of 1 or 2 being right which they then point to when questioned, while they ignore the 98 they got wrong

The other issue for us is if Freo lose Cerra to vic for picks i cant see them being willing to lose darcy in the same off season just for picks even if we offer a fair price as they would want a 'name' in the trade..think good young players coming home they can sell that PR wise. I honestly think our chances of getting darcy this year depend on cerra staying there..if he doesnt unless they get some super talent back the other way..for eg if bolton decides to go to freo, narkle goes with him,clark and/or other picks are involved..then they might feel thats a trade they can sell to their members. If we get darcy this year the price it will cost us will be more than we want to pay but that doesnt necessarily make it the wrong call.

Stanley or Fort, with backup from Blitz is our best ruck combo.

I like him, but Sav is not a ruck, and atm he is no better than gap filler on the ground.

He does crash packs and that appears to create opportunities that are not present with Stanley. Stanley clearly better ruck but also has fade outs and is not reliable. So I suspect he’s come to the end of the road with us.

If he wants out then I will move to a less sceptical footing. To me he is not playing like a guys who unhappy. Unlike Kelly, the drums if they are beating have been quiet till now.


I obviously would like him. He would fit a need. He fits our recruiting profile as a Boomarang Falcon. Perhaps we have to wait another month or two but till I hear something from more sources than just Sumich , till then , I have decided to be sceptical.

Narkle is an out of contract fringe player who no one wanted last year. I rate him as a player but trade wise he doesnt have the value you think he does..darcy is worth more than pick 15ish and narkle and richmond and freo would both want more. For eg geel would have to add our ess R2 on top of the Fr1, both those picks go to richmond..and freo might want something else..or clark will also be involved as a piece somewhere..a Fr1 and narkle alone for a contracted darcy is highway robbery and wont happen.
