Would add to the list of players we've delisted over the last 5-10 years who have gone on to play for others clubs. Off the top of my head:

Buzza
Hamling
Gardner
Gillies
Jones
T.Hunt
Murdoch
Simpkin

None of the list above have really proven us wrong for delisting them in the first place except arguably Hamling, although two of them (Simpkin and Hamling) did go on to win premierships with the club that recruited them.

Will almost certainly keep Zuthrie due to his ‘utility

IMO -Likely to go :
Jarvis
Brownless
Okunbor
Taheny

Jarvis has talent but looks 10% off the AFL Level
Brownless and Okunbor - incredibly fit and faultless application but not sure if enough.
Taheny - flashes of that talent only. Still so raw. Tarca was showing way more at same stage last year.

Kreuger- is he safe? Desperately needs to stay fit and consistently show value to stay on IMO.

wouldn’t be surprised if JJ or Fort asked to go - both might attract some offers if current form persists.

Is anyone else concerned that Clark may request a trade at season's end? He's been in and out of the team a bit and often included as the medical sub. Part of me suspects that if he was truly just on the fringes of the best 22, he'd at least be given a decent stretch of time to make his case at the lower level. He and Constable seem like likely trades to me at this point if there are takers.

Gardner looked ok but we had Taylor, Henderson and Blicavs so he never got a go in the backline.

I think you can bank Constable, Jenkins and Teheny not being there.

Brownless, Jarvis and Okunbur would be borderline.

The rest should be safe.

the interesting thing is the retirement of the 30plus brigade. Do Higgins, Smith, Touhy and Selwood all leave at the end of 2022.

Clark is contracted for next year, so while he may consider his options at the end of the season, if a potential trade isn't deemed of suitable value then the club would likely prefer to retain him

He's still got half a season to force his way in the 22 and he'll likely be presented with the opportunity to do so - it's then up to him to grab the chance with both hands just as we've seen from Narkle over recent matches

We need a true ruckman not a hybrid.

Make Sean Darcy our number 1 priority.

I agree with you but hes contracted and freo would be mad to release him to us sadly.

Yes he may but id like to keep him unless a trade involves us getting Darcy.

Constable will be a DFA at best i cant see clubs wanting him at cost but they will trade for clark.

the interesting thing is the retirement of the 30plus brigade. Do Higgins, Smith, Touhy and Selwood all leave at the end of 2022.

We have eleven players who will be 30 or older by the end of next year whose contracts end either 2021 or 2022, plus an additional four players in the same age range who are contracted in to 2023 or 2024:

Selwood (34 next year) - contracted until 2021
Stanley (32 next year) - contracted until 2021
Jenkins (33 next year) contracted until 2021
C.Guthrie (30 next year) contracted until 2021
Henderson (33 next year) - contracted until 2021
Rohan (31 next year) - contracted until 2022
Tuohy (33 next year) - contracted until 2022
Higgins (34 next year) - contracted until 2022
Hawkins (34 next year) - contracted until 2022
Dahlhaus (30 next year) - contracted until 2022
Smith (34 next year) - contracted until 2022
Menegola (30 next year) contracted until 2023
Blicavs (31 next year) - contracted until 2023
Duncan (31 next year) - contracted until 2024
Dangerfield (32 next year) - contracted until 2024

The difficult in terms of staggering departures is that we're short on obvious names (besides Jenkins) from the list above to retire or be delisted at the end of *this* season (i.e. Selwood is playing too well not to go around again, we need Hendo for structural reasons especially without a readymade replacement, and Dahlhaus still has a year to go on his contract so we're stuck with him even though he's been awful) so it's looking like it's going to be hard to avoid mass departures at the end of 2022 like you say.

Clark and Narkle on the table for Darcy is a good starting places (with pick swaps or Cerra in that deal too)

Darcy is worth more than Clark or Narkle (and i like both our players) itd be that plus more to get him while hes contracted

Interesting that none of the speculated former AFL talents were picked up. Wonder if the Hawks did offer Newcombe 4 years? Seems outrageous to me

I'm not really convinced of it. The pandemic etc may have taken its toll, but he was adamant about playing footy away from Perth when drafted and he seems to have a pretty reasonable head on his shoulders - he'll know what he needs to do to crack the 22, even if one of those things is waiting it out and working on his craft in the VFL

Its interesting that clubs took a lot of the development rucks out of the end of this years pool...i wonder if that affects how some clubs draft and trade rucks at the end of this year. It probably doesnt affect us as much as some clubs because we already have neale and tsapa as development rucks and we need a readymade ruck instead.

Technically wouldn't it be draft tampering if they had him put a price on his head so North wouldn't grab him and then they don't pay the price?

I think the terms are nominated purely by the player - so unless you could prove the club made him do it....
Would still be draft tampering if he took a price lower then his announced priced especially if North asked about him. Just not from the club but him instead.

Doubt it happened but at the same time wouldn't surprise me with how things work in the AFL.

More and more Draftees are telling clubs stuff off i don't wanna go interstate/or play for you or i will leave asap etc.

If the AFL don't put a stop to it eventually players will just say i am going to whichever club they want no matter the pick they have.

Is Parker the tattooed forward who played for the Saints a couple of years ago?

That's what I suspected at the beginning of the season. I just notice that he's not really getting a lengthy crack at it at either AFL or VFL level this year. Kinda being brought in for one match. Dropped the next. Medical sub.. There's no doubt there's stuff he can work on. But why not, like you say, just give him a chance to work on those things with more continuity at the lower level?

He told the AFL what his contract terms were and the club would have to register his contract. If it was different, it wouldn’t be accepted. Or am I missing something.
