Fair to say he probably played footy as a kid and can run all day. Chuck him on the wing in the vfl and see what happens.I presume we would like at it as a cheap chance Rookie B etc. 193cm ..Kolo height.. does he fit a need? What type of player would he be. No real information means one can't judge his worth.
Generally if you are over the 2M then the skills being required would be less, if he is appealing to the club it shows how much the aerobic capacity must play a role in recruitment

May also be more money in AFL than swimmingFair to say he probably played footy as a kid and can run all day. Chuck him on the wing in the vfl and see what happens.
He might be thinking Tokyo will be his last swim and he's a 2024 player

That's the very short odds favourite given he's an ambassador for them, but definitely sounds like we're putting in the work. He'll end up at Port.

Technically wouldn't it be draft tampering if they had him put a price on his head so North wouldn't grab him and then they don't pay the price?
For some reason even though there's speculation surrounding the futures of both of them, I feel far more confident in our ability to retain Clark than our ability to retain Narkle.
well Clark is contracted.
Both gorn IMO.I know but I guess I'm just talking about who I think we're more likely to keep long-term, not just in terms of next season.
We've been through 2 in 20 years so if doubt we'd go through that many again in the three or so years it would take. Likely the coach he'd debut for wouldn't be Scott thoughWE could have gone thru two coaches by the time he is ready to play. 100-1 melb cup long shot but if tehy like him ...then history says they identify talent well

I feel the opposite. Narks was drafted off an acl injury, persevered with through a long development, and only now has really shown anything other than a few glimpses. He can't fault the clubs commitment to him I wouldn't think. Jordy is getting played out of position to challenge him to be a better player, but he could go to a club and never get dropped. He would never get dropped here after 2022 either though tbhFor some reason even though there's speculation surrounding the futures of both of them, I feel far more confident in our ability to retain Clark than our ability to retain Narkle.

We've had 4 coaches since the fall of the soviet union. Fairly confident the next guy gets minimum 5 years whoever they areThats true although Ess have been thru a few since Sheedy. The long terms seem to be followed by shorter terms.
Right now, if I were to pick our next coach... hard to see someone we would sign and keep for ten years. I agree that we do tend to give them time.
In fact if Scott left at years end, who would we look to get? Probably a fresh face as thats what we have done recently, so that means they would have to be willing to give them time.

It's good to put things into historical context sometimesThats one reference I have not seen before.
Not a hope we get a first rounder.Clark will definitely go IMO. He is under contract of course, but Kelly aside, historically we don't stand in the way of players wanting to move on, especially if it's for more opportunities. Kelly was a unique one as he was an absolute star for us, so Wells just had to dig his heels in there. But I don't think we will with Clark.
My gut feel is he will request a trade, not necessarily back to WA either. He could well go to a Melbourne club. IMO, he is no longer worth a first rounder (probably more a pick in the early to mid 20's), but given we hold the cards due to him being contracted, we will likely get a first rounder which will be a great outcome.
I'd like him to stay, but I won't be devastated if he leaves. There is a chance he may not be the player we thought he could be. His kicking and lack of defensive side to his game do concern me a bit.
