Am I the only one who thinks 27 is a good score for a player we didn't want to play this year?
If he was uncontracted I wouldn’t mind it.

Given that he is, and we need a youth and pace injection for the future, I’m happy for the club to push for an end-of-first/early second round pick or hold him to his contract.

What about Joel Corey as an assistant. Bontampeli was a big wrap on him at the dogs. he got squeezed out with the soft cap cuts. I think he moved back to the West.
Wont come back to the club as long as CS is there

If he's determined to leave (none of us know for sure despite what managers, coaches and the player might say) then he would be taking the place of a young player who is desperate to play for Geelong.

Hey Cats I come in peace. What are your thoughts on Darcy Fort? I have seen him play a couple of times and remember him giving Oscar a bath and might have been Steph as well one game (last year or even earlier). I remember thinking at the time Geelong had found their ruckman. Obviously I was reading too much into a couple of games. But I do have a theory that Scott just doesn't rate pure ruckman and instead slots in guys who might not be great tap ruckman, but serve other roles in the team like Bilcavs, Ratugelea and even Stanley. Thoughts?
He’s a toiler. Was on the list purely as backup and was 4th in line for us. Won’t cost you anything but if you have to use him he will be a significant downgrade on McInerney.

Not sure Scott doesn't rate them, I'm sure if we had a decent one they would play, Stanley's best is the best of our options. Don't think forts good enough, he's okay but Stanley's best is better (and even that isn't good enough).

Just tell them straight up that he won't be traded for anything less than a top 20 pick, let them figure out how they achieve it. The Tim Kelly precedence comes in handy in these situations.

Agreed.

Harry Taylor has been mentioned

I cant see Harrys wife agreeing to move back to vic especially with the way the border rules are in WA. Would love harry here though.

What could we get if Darcy Fort is traded to Lions?

Pick 57 achievable?

Surely a straight swap for Harris Andrews...

Wouldn't be surprised if we'd rather a future pick, say a future 3rd compared with a late pick this draft

I'm of the thinking that he's not a first rounder. So 25 (Carlton) or 27 (Freo) picks might be enough.
But my spidey senses tell me that Clark will stay on. which negates the 25-27 picks.
Those same senses tell me that our 2022 first rounder will be used to nab a pick in the first round this year.
Time will tell.
I like spidey senses....they almost always
have legs....

Pick 57 is fair but i dont think we will use it (we currently have 4 picks before and i doubt we use more than 4). I think a late future 3rd/early future 4th is better-we need picks for next year. Unless its a fringe player swap with a brisbane player.

If Fort goes, I think they will add another ruck in some form. Neale, Tsap and SDek are not certainties to be future rucks, or even on Geelongs list. Whether draft or trade, whether a more traditional ruck or one in system, not sure. Stanley for another two does give those players time to show what they have. All players the last two years could feel hard done by trying to show their worth at the lower level.
While not certainties, Neale looks like a young Ottens when he plays. Gonna be an absolute gun if we don't break him or trade him for a 35yo.

So Freo think he's not worth more than Pick 27 even though he's contracted, hey?

Interesting that the article headline states 'Freo names their price.' Given he's our player, I woulda thought that, ya know, we'd name the price...crazy concept I know.

Let the games begin!

Wild card, crazy idea drafts: (after watching the twos on Kayo this year)

Re-draft Darcy Lang. Gives us some kind of ball usage and not just pressure. Looks better than he did when he was a senior player, and only 25. Keen to have another crack at AFL.

Jackson McLachlin. The world's smallest footballer, but if Melbourne can play Pickett at 72kgs why not take a punt on this guy? Massive footy brain and skills to die for. He's a wild card and I'd love to see it happen.

Must do:

Okunbor. If his surgery went well, re-sign and play him next year.
Brownless. As per Okunbor.
