Yeah i hate that bloke myself lol

He should go to PSD and tell any club will only play for 1 year then off to Geelong, and pies get nothing

So you’re saying a club gets a year of Ollie Henry playing for them and then are able to trade him for a late 1st to Geelong…..and all they have to give up is a pre-season draft pick?

That sounds like a fantastic deal.

From memory Hynes got 8 weeks! He came back for the 63 finals and starred. But like a great many of that great team he retired young. They went back to the farm or got more money coaching etc etc.

Problem is, Jen is just someone involved with the club, but not in a professional aspect. They can't really be held responsible for her actions. With that said, it is just such a bad look, from someone who was actually at the Copeland.

Btw, there's a tweet going around of Ollie looking very unhappy, which I assume probably coincided with all this (that's definitely the face of someone that wants to stay, loll):

I understand that a club can not be responsible for all it supporters but it does sort of set a standard by the way it responds.... if its good enough for the coach to talk about flopping ion the ground after a loss as not being what winner do..etc... Im sure they can encourage a certain standard from its supporters. I cant remember anyone booing Ablett when he came back for example... let alone when he left for GC.

I fear what Ollie will cop it Pies games. Selwood x2 .

Collingwood are a huge club ...and will bring in plenty of players from other clubs. Buckley was only 1 year at Brisbane for heaven sake. Im sure there would be other examples.

Doesn't seem to be much love lost for Brad Scott with Ralphy.

Seemed to have a fair dig at him on the draft show.....ie said he was 'too pessimistic....probably to extend his own honeymoon period'

Interestingly, he also said Essendon's interest in JDG faltered as soon as Brad arrived at the club.
I had the pleasure of listening to Dodoro this morning. He said that Rutten was the one who was interested in De Goey, and as soon as Rutten was out the door their interest in De Goey was basically non existent.

I can’t see how they guarantee him games as a defender. Who does he push out? Anyone watch enough VFL to get a read on how he went as a defender. I love Esava’s effort and his ability to split packs but his football is not instinctive. Which will always hold him back. He is a role player with a bit of X factor. That early leg injury probably cost him reaching his full potential.

JackB does not want to play as a def..he wants to be an inside mid ..he sees it as his best position.

Knew it. Scott was lavishing him with praise as per usual in the aftermath of the GF - so he was never going. We have literally no other KPD depth, and everyone at the club loves him, so no sense trading him until his contract is up. Very happy about this actually, as I wanted to see how he'd go given more time in that role, and the pick we would get would be next to useless anyway :)

Well I hope they get Harry Taylor or someone to work with him all the off season... and to stay surely he has been told he will play as a defender. I look forward to seeing how that works

Talented big men who can ruck and be a forward presence are hard to find, can guarantee Carlton would want that, no way he's worth a 2nd
Talented yes, but tbh, he's 23, and statistically average as a ruck.

If he didn't share the same surname as SDK, he's around a 2nd round pick. We drafted Rhys Stanley plus Pick 60 for our Pick 21. Ryhs Stanley was considered a very strong talent coming off a year where he took a lot of marks. Athletically, Rhys at his peak, is better than TDK, but TDK probably has better skill levels. He would be a similar value imho.

That's not to say he can become a player that commands a first round pick, but at the moment, not really imho.

If Tom DeKonning wanted to us next year, will be out of contract... What would TDK be worth in a trade sense would people think 🤔
That really will depend a bit on how he performs next season.

Could swing anywhere from 2x late first-rounders (if he really starts to produce) to an early 2nd rounder (if he is in and out of the side).

I don't think he would be coming cheap.

As per usual... Time will tell, but we have the better DK that's for sure.

I'm up for discussion about Bowes, but I don't get it

Bowes might come to Geelong ( might ) as basically his getting pushed...
But the chances of him being in our best side next year would be very slim right? If his struggling to get a game at Gold Coast, fox footy said his 8th in line to play midfield at Gold Coast that didn't make top 8, and MAYBE come to Geelong to play midfield in our side, with our current list in Holmes inj, Menegola, Stephens, etc and the like of Tanner Bruhn coming into our side 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
I don't get it for Bowes sake....

Buckley said from day one he would only be at Brisbane one year and he wouldn't play for anyone else but Collingwood.karma got him good.

I have been "keeping a low profile" all day. Has anything happened in the 12 pages added today or Nah?
Nope

I've read all pages of this thread today as I was busy over the weekend - not sure I learnt anything new

You’d think that if we get Bowes it doesn’t look great for Menegola’s prospects in getting a game. Someone may argue, “but they play different roles” but it’s still another number taken in the midfield. Similarly not sure what it means for Stephens? I know we have a few retiring over the next few years but how long do you wait?

I'd love the club to get their hands on #7 as much as the next man.

And Bowes deserves to be paid.

But I'm not sure how much actual use we'd have for Bowes the player, who can't get a run at a team that missed the 8 in 2022.

I've seen a reasonable amount of Bowes; usually plays as a defender and is pretty agile, good height, good skills. Still; I don't see him playing more than a handful of games at best for Geelong - Jack nominates Essendon (hypothetically) and he gets paid and most likely gets a good 10 game free hit next year to establish himself in that team ....

I feel in our system how could be a very good inside mid. Its Rohan esque ..in a way ... I think in the right side an ordinary player can suddenly have enhanced charactistics but time will tell I guess.

Im not getting to excited over P7 till all is said and done and we still have 7. It sounds like Bowes and 7 will cost a Fr2... so unless we find another Fr2... we must keep our Fr1 (which is good) but getting Bruhn and Henry done without using p7 and with out using our Fr1 and without trading out someone seems unlikely. P18,P26 ...and a heap of picks we might be able to upgrade ...but does that get us the TB and OH?

ssssshhhhhh.... Don't let Bowes know that. We want that pick 7.

Ok just for you to make the read worth while in 1963 Geelong played Hawthorn in 3 consecutive games to win the premiership you won't read that on the Hawks board ever.:)

People are starting to really wise up to Stephens not looking close to being in our best side unless he takes a really big jump.

I have never really thought he had much upside. I just don't think he has the tools.

Certainly hope I'm wrong though.

Even a couple of months back I was saying "I'd trade him if someone would bite".

People didn't like hearing that.

Anyway I think it'll be proven next season when others go past him (even though he isn't even in the side).

I’ll give him another year before writing him off. But he does need a breakout season of sorts. At least demonstrating that he is right in the mix for midfield selection and when he plays be racking up 20+ touches a game.

Ralph on trading day tonight said Carlorn are confident he signs with them in the next couple of months... I gues we seeif he wants to move to be with his brother or not.

They have already knocked back a R1 pick previously when we approached them.
