Ok then who goes out.
More who they'll be competing with, IMO.

I.e.

Ollie competing with Rohan, with both playing significant games as Rohan plays 10-12 games next year (if he stays)

McKenna competing with O'Connor (who is already on the fringe - McKenna gets the nod due to his attributes)

Bruhn competing with Parf and Atkins (as both Parf and Atkins are very similar and we won't play them in the midfield at the same time - based on this year likely to be Parf who misses out)

Bowes competing with Menegola, Smith and Tuohy for a role on the wing with (Menegola injured a lot this year and no longer first choice, and Tuohy and Smith likely to play 10-12 games next year as they allow greater opportunity for the next gen to come through - and can play pretty much anywhere on the field anyway)

First round pick won't play immediately and will so their apprenticeship, and get a few games here and there if they show they're good enough

Something like that would be the thinking, IMO. Guys like Danger and Duncan probably play only 10-15 games for the year, in different positions, to allow the next gen to come through as well. Allows someone like Bowes to maybe play at half back some weeks and then inside mid another week.

Will be interesting if it does happen, as when I was looking at our prospective list in 2023 the other day, with these guys in it, our list is absolutely stacked with talent - with at least 30 guys who would walk into the best 22's of another side

Would be the single dumbest move if we split 7 (when 18 + future first are available to trade).

Pick 7 just has to go to the draft
I think we'll be giving up 18 or the FR1 in the Bowes trade. Don't think it's a straight Bowes + 7 for nothing swap. I could be wrong though

Need to use a R1 pick this year or next

Bit like Knevitt?

Unpopular opinion but hey it’s a footy forum… I really don’t rate knevitt at all based on his draft yr and first yr of footy in the system. Would need to improve out of sight this yr to remain on the list imo. Hope I’m wrong as players develop at different rates but he just looked too timid, lack of acceleration, competitiveness to be an inside mid. Maybe there’s a place for him as a floating wing (with a good overhead mark) but that may not work due to his poor foot skills.

Phillipou has all the above. His highlights are more impressive than anything I’ve seen knevitt do in his short time so far

Clubs clamouring to secure Gold Coast midfielder Jack Bowes and the Suns’ cherished No.7 pick could spread his $1.6 million salary obligation over four years in a major boost for teams with tight salary caps.
Geelong and Hawthorn head a pack of clubs chasing Bowes that also includes Essendon and North Melbourne. The Roos were expected to make their bid for the former No.10 pick over the weekend.

Gold Coast is prepared to trade Bowes and the No.7 pick to his club of choice, and if he arrived at the Cats he could be the centrepiece of deals that would also secure former first-round picks Tanner Bruhn (GWS) and Ollie Henry (Geelong).

The Cats could split the No.7 draft pick from the Suns to help satisfy the Giants and Pies with trade requests.

But the Herald Sun understands the AFL has made clear the Suns would need to secure a draft pick in return for the Bowes salary dump. That is likely be a future second-round pick.

Ralph likes to make idiotic suggestions all the time lol...completely forgets about everything else we have available, and just puts in his own opinion. We don't even need to give up Pick 7 with all the collateral we have

I think it's crazy if we did get pick 7 and then had to split it for the Bruhn and Henry trades as the HS article suggests.

Yeah there is no way we would do that. It's garbage. We would deal this years first for Henry maybe and next years for Bruhn. I would be staggered if we didn't take 7 to the draft. Not sure if he would be there but I would give anyone for M Phillipou if we did have it and he was still there. Jhye Clark is fantastic but this kid has all the same competitiveness and desperation to be great but is 192cm with more speed and power and has elite endurance. He's the youngest player in the draft and has so much upside it is not funny

Does Brisbane still need to make up points for Ashcroft?

Not enough list spots to take our picks. Bigger problem they have, is that they literally do not have enough picks this year or next to pay for Pick 1 Ashcroft, Fletcher and then a star in Josh Dunkley on top of it all. Reckon they might be the first club ever to go into such a deficit that they're omitted from the 2023 draft in essence.

Bulldogs had enough trouble paying for JUH and then had nothing left. Imagine Josh Dunkley and then another first round pick on top of that, all in the same draft. Crazy.
