We've got Cameron for the next 4 seasons, and Scratcher Neale has shown promising signs early in his career - we've got options up forward

Cameron doesn't replace he compliments what we have... very nicely i must add.
As for Neale. 1 year contract for a hybrid Ruck/Forward. Showed a little.. But has a ways to go.

Please watch some Bont draft highlights, Phillipou is tall & supposedly a left footer though you wouldn’t know it with how bad his kicking is, that’s about where the comparisons end, you could maybe make some comparisons to Cripps I guess.

Thing with Bont was he’s could have been drafted in any position outside of ruck how Saints *ed that up I’ll never know.

That’d be an upgrade but Hamling has missed a bit of footy with injuries recently. And he did move to wa when he would’ve had a good role at the dogs for a long time.

No WA boys worth a pick 2... Busslinger and Hewitt are 10-12 range prospects.
Too many nancy boys not willing to go interstate via their managers i'm betting.

Just floated that on their board. My money is on all 3 of 3, 12 and 18, for Pick 1 and a future pick. Cadman is the best key forward in the draft, so GWS really are all in for him, IMO

McKenzie has a little bit of Pendles about him. Doesn't kick like him though. Looks a solid prospect to me.

I think part of the apprehension from cats fans about some of the players we’re trading in is that we’ve become accustomed to trading in established players.
Trading in 20 year olds is exciting for what they could be but there is also a bigger risk that they won’t make it.
We will have a big group of young players after this draft and trade period. With the players drafted over the last couple of years and the new ones.

The odds are a lot of them won’t become stars. But we’re giving ourselves a better chance to unearth some talent by casting a wide net.
The development at the club will give them the best chance to be the best player they can.

I assume its involving us getting 33 from port (we will have to send later picks with sav) and then using that to try and get a 20s pick for henry.

My job…absolutely i would also be hoping nobody got hurt so I could stay waiting and getting paid…

Yes us (bowes and henry) and port (jhf) plus bris (dunkley) would be the clubs asking.

I think what the club is aiming doing is that we have developed a game style non-reliant on star players having to play well all the time. We have a group, where everyone has a role and contributes, which we are no doubt going to keep in mind over the next few off seasons. Not all of the new recruits need be stars, B grade will do.

It seems more about top end WA talent and increasing concern that picking a non WA person with pick 2 is risky with go home factor. I think they are trying to get another first round for next year as there are 2-3 strong WA prospect (key positions?) in next years draft.

This year the best WA is a low single digit type pick so they think they can slip back a bit and pick the same person (and get a better pick next year?)

As things have turned out I can understand why we would have offered pick 38 as first offer for Ollie. The Bruhn deal was probably a lot further down the track, we had probably committed to the player and had discussions with GWS and offered pick 18.
Pick 38 was the next best we had so we offered it. You can’t give what you don’t have nor offer on what you may get.
You can always lift your offer but you can’t lower it.
Hopefully things play out as I would love to see Ollie at the Cats.

If this happens, there are SO many Pies flogs on twitter adamant that it was either 18 + 38 for Henry, or we would split 7 to get Henry, or they would keep him and the extra year would be enough for Henry to decide he loves the Pies more than Geelong and he stays there.

Great post; perfectly summarised. It's smart list management and will help in our list transition. I reckon Bowes aside, the other two trades are every bit about 2024 and beyond. Not to say Bruhn and Henry won't get games next year as they will.
