Feel like GC take Clark, and in 4 years time he comes to Geelong for a GC/Geelong trade special of Clark for a few bags of chips, a dim sim and pick 77.

hard to believe given you stayed awake for all those vfl games…I go by the u18 champs, and i found it hard to watch this year think i went to sleep in 2 matches..That's why i so don't care this year
I know one. He can play but only played 3 or 4 Falcons games this year because of a knee injury..I see no Falcons players made the top 30 Australian academy squad for next year. Anyone no of any bottom ages from this year to look out for.
Would much prefer GC to take Clark than Hawthorn (assuming one of them takes him).Feel like GC take Clark, and in 4 years time he comes to Geelong for a GC/Geelong trade special of Clark for a few bags of chips, a dim sim and pick 77.

Only 17yo. That's the bonus with him, still developing and growing, but all who know him and have seen him live can see the Potential. Yes, I liken him a lot to DeK.I think Mackie is almost a different era. 20 years ago... and the study of kids now is far more focused. However Hayes could be another who has been affected by the lack of footy... maybe in two normal years he would have been earlier.
Im not sure those highlights are the best advocate for him. Tough wet conditions for a lot of them but if I were to judge him on them , there were not a lot of 1o1's, not a lot clunks , several chest marks ... and a bit thickening up to do.
He would 2025 before id expect to see him which probably would fit our needs, but having two 200 cm backman, id query that. Its not a setup we see often. If we visualise Sam Dek playing elsewhere eventually then of course then should not stop us.
How to gauge him against mids or or role is a difficult talent. The rarity of KPB probably sees him go earlier than I would pick him. ..... I was on the Sam dek train from the champs on. ... and he was talked about as mid 20's... and i wondered if we went early on him. Now it looks like a genius move... so you will rightly have dibs if we do select him and he becomes the same sort of player.

I wouldn't have thought a rookie draft selection would be worthy of a story on the news. I guess we'll soon see.
Aren’t we taking two from the draft? I’d be more than happy with two slow burns at say 14 and 17 as we don’t have a pressing need for depth right now. Hayes and George would do me just fine.
What about Lewis Hayes?
I do like the claims already that next year is a “super draft”. This time last year this year was a super draft stacked specifically with talls.
Now it lacks depth with almost no talls.![]()
He's top 20, quite easily.Having minimal picks puts us out of his range ie 7 is too early and 58 is too late. If we had a pick in the 20s id consider him there.
Think it goes:
1 Ashcroft
2 GWS - Cadman
3 North - Wardlaw
4 North - Sheezel
5 Ess - Phillipou
6 GC - Humphrey
7 Haw - Clark
Leaves names like Tsatas, Mackenzie, Ginbey on the table at our pick.
He's top 20, quite easily.
Then I hope we go for one of them with pick 58.There are still a lot of good talls this year talent wise but most of them have had inconsistent years this year so theres risk picking them.
I just wonder what Northam might have been like if the had played him at CHB full time. He is a shorter ruck who rucked and comepted and body banged against taller opponents. His kicking is clunky..and needs some work but Id say he would be a contested mark behind the ball.
If Fish's issues are nurture over nature then a clone raised by the Selwood family might be a generational playerFischer McAsey clone.
Respect your opinion but I think your draft strategy assumptions are off the mark. I don’t think Hawthorn will care how similar potential draftees are to their current squad, they’ll just pick the best player.Maybe but i still think clark is too similar to stephens and their other mids. I personally think the hawks take mckenzie. In which case i think clark comes to us. But if clark is gone and tsatas is at 7 i reckon some clubs might get on the phone and try and trade up above st kilda with us to get him. In which case id consider trading back and getting one of busslinger/hollands/hewett etc depending on what picks we were offered for 7.
Were you sober?I go by the u18 champs, and i found it hard to watch this year think i went to sleep in 2 matches..That's why i so don't care this year
This year is largely irrelevant, unless you think we pick a player for 23. They are young and supertalented and need to be given time to develop, so that 24, 25 is realistic. If we were to select Hayes, it would be for the long term, and he will be that player to complement DeK, or any other KPP at any other team. There are still a lot of good talls this year talent wise but most of them have had inconsistent years this year so theres risk picking them.
Based on what? If you don't mind me asking. I attend many of their games, and he is very much a key player that is being looked at every week.Personally for me hes a 20-35 pick but the lack of kpds besides busslinger means a collingwood/gws/wbd might well take him in the 10-20 range.
His brother?? Elijah?? Yeah nah... not for me.Trading back and getting Hollands could also land us his brother in the future. Still can't believe the Suns won't take him and unite the brothers. Thought they were mad not taking the King brothers a few years ago for the same reason.
They'll fall back if the player they really want is still there. The only way Geelong will trade back is if a club offers up a r1 next year and a later r1 this year... I can't see Geelong doing it otherwise...
