This is where we will have to agree to disagree.I get that but its marginal gains.
Dropping an afl standard fwd to get zurhaar in is only a marginal gain when we kick good scores anyway.
Whereas getting a good mid in and dropping one of our D grade mids for it is a bigger gain.
Given zurhaar would be expensive i dont see the value.

I see zurhaar as something completely different to what we have in our team now. I don’t see him as purely a forward, and I think the gains he would bring would be more than marginal.
I see him as having the potential to play the de Goey role. I may be smoking some good stuff but that is what I see.
He will be expensive, but not as expensive as a good mid.
If we have to give up a bunch of draft capital and lay out a long term deal for a Bailey smith type then no thanks - give me zurhaar at his cost every time.
Someone like LDU would be a different story, he is a guy I would happily pay up for and if he was a possibility for us I would say go hard for him.
Basically what I am saying is if we are going to pay the high price it will cost for a high level mid, then they need to be a high probability play, someone who does not have red flags and is close to a sure thing.
Has any club been linked to Zurhaar?
Some were against the idea when I floated it of chasing 2025 free agent Darcy Fogharty but he does something that our keys currently can't. Take good contested marks.
I wouldn't rule it out. He's not from AdelaideFogarty wont leave SA though.
I assume that being under the age of 50 he's never had a pie floater. I'll have to ask him about the rest when I next see him at the localWhat's his views on Coopers, Farmers Union, FruChocs & pie floaters?

Barracked for Geelong when he was younger. So as Cats to the future says... " Bring the boy home"What's his views on Coopers, Farmers Union, FruChocs & pie floaters?
I'd take Oliver over Smith but question he's leadership with our young group.
Lots seem pretty settled and still moveHes not but he seems very settled there and they will overpay to keep him.
At his peak Oliver is a club changer but there are significant red flags about his professionalism, off-field behaviour and the $1m a year contract we'd have to take on.
Smith is a far more suitable and realistic prospect for us IMO, he's less than two years older than Holmes and Bruhn so could spend a decade alongside them in the midfield. When he's been given significant midfield minutes at the Bulldogs he's been one of the best young players in the game, and one thing we can give him from day one is significant midfield minutes. Coming off an ACL and a poor 2023 season, his trade value should be at an all time low. Would trade our first rounder or F1 in a heartbeat.
Heard something through the grapevine? At least one (maybe both if we can facilitate trades) for Oliver and Smith will be Cats next year. Lock it in.
There's some red flags with both, that's absolutely true.At his peak Oliver is a club changer but there are significant red flags about his professionalism, off-field behaviour and the $1m a year contract we'd have to take on.

If this happens then we will be right back at the top contending for the next few years. Whilst we have Cameron forward and Stewart down back, a couple of genuine mids makes our team one of the best getting around. Even with Hawkins ageing, I think our forward line is elite. At least one (maybe both if we can facilitate trades) for Oliver and Smith will be Cats next year. Lock it in.
Maaaaybe, but I doubt that's a guarantee. Plus, a cheap cost in picks is good for year 1 or 2. In year 4 of that contract you'll have forgotten that and just be sitting there burning moneyOliver's big contract means we will probably get him cheap in a trade.
