Away from BF, I've seen Geelong fans say they'd be happy to trade in Oliver, even on his $1 million+ deal and that he'd be worth it

I'd rather put that money towards TDK who is the one more likely to make an immediate positive impact on not just our midfield but also the team as a whole, compared with Oliver who looks like he'll be a $7 figure income VFL player by the end of his career

Is TDK worth the reported $1.7million that it's been said St Kilda is offering; probably not; but if looking at around $1.2million we'd be crazy too not be offering that
I refuse to believe that anyone who has seen Oliver play a game of football in the flesh in 2025 would entertain taking him even for free

Id say he would get close to a million at Geelong, especially how much the salary cap..
Let's say 300 g difference, how much money does a person need to live on, especially the more tax you get taken
From experience - going from 70k to 130k a year moves the needle a lot more dare I say than the difference between 900 to 1.5, as big as the x10 increase is. Once basic needs are met I don’t think it matters that much depending on your mindset.

On Clark, I think he’s a victim of his draft number. If he’d been a rookie we’d all be excited with what he’s shown. Essendon took a back flanker with pick one and I’d bet LH has a better career at a pick in the sixties.

Swings, roundabouts & perspective.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a high correlation between these folk and those who still view Duncan as a highly versatile player who's an elite kick - I love Duncan & the player he's been, but surely it's ok to say father time is catching up with him

Why would anyone want to take on Oliver's full salary 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

It would make him the highest paid player and the club and I'd love to hear one valid justification for that

I've even read some suggestions of Melbourne paying half his salary for his remaining years - no they won't when that would be $500k->$700k annually for a player not on their books. They'd take the Collingwood approach of $300k which is what the Pies are paying from Grundy's contract each year

Reid is an absolute Cats nuffy.
He said when joining the Eagles that the guys he’s looking forward to most playing with was Tim Kelly and Jamaine Jones LOL

Bro wasn’t even hiding his love affair for the Hoops.
Told Twomey he is a die hard Catters fan and if he could play for anyone it’d be them.

I don’t want us to stuff up our future drafting and trading for the kid but that’s almost a match made in heaven.
A team crying out for a young star mid, a young future star mid looking for a club that will embrace him
During interstate games:

"Tim, can you tell me a bed time story about what it was like to play for the Cats?"

"Sure, Harley. Once upon a time, there was a football ground in Kardinia Park...."

Look, I'd usually agree, but gave you noticed Geelong's form issues have coincided with a lack of fire crotches in our best 22?

We need a Rohan replacement from the eyes up

Oliver will be a Jack Steven mk II. We either bring an A-grader in via FA/trade or don't bother.

A few things from Gettable today:

Butters - probably won't leave until next year, and Port have no reason to trade him this year. But Cats and Doggies are chasing him for next year.
Reid - Cats the favorite if he leaves, he has to make a decision, some Vic clubs think this is live and may happen this year.
Miers - Talks have started on a contract extension, but he is contracted until 2026
TDK - no mention of us. Only Blues and Saints.

Just on an ex player:

Parfitt is getting a lot of interest for the mid season draft, has apparently had a good start in the WAFL. Cal thinks WCE should select him with pick 1 so he can come in and play strait away for them.

I'd say he'd be even worse due to the size of his contract - it's indexed to the CBA and will be ridiculous by 2030, especially based on current form

At least with Steven we only had to wear that for 1 year, but with Oliver it would be 5 years of pain

And for anyone arguing, "he's only playing poorly as he's heart isn't in it at Melbourne but it'll be different when he's at Geelong" - sorry but **** that, if anything that's the biggest red flag and reason to skip on the player

We all knew that Kelly was going to return to WA after the 2019 season but you can't question his attitude & output in his second year with us - top 5 finish in the Brownlow shows how he attacked the season

If Oliver's head or heart isn't in it now, does that mean it hasn't been for the last couple of seasons also, and why does one think that suddenly turns around at the new club. Regardless of where he's playing next year he will be set up for life with his contract and why I question if he really has the drive to return to the form that saw him earn that deal

Parfitt has also been linked to WCE as he was mates with Kelly out here and there's talk that that connection could help Tim with his funk

So he'll be resigning with the Hawks any day now I guess?
With Meek looking at a nice payday along with Oscar Allen if they land him...
Add to that what they gave Battle and Barras.
They can't be flush with cash i would think.
FWIW Worpel actually ticks a few boxes TBH.

It’s observations such as this that remind of the high bar we have here.
It ain’t perfect at all.. but it’s better than that kind of stuff..

I shudder..

Mind you .. I had Cam Eardley making it so what do I know lol

Can’t get my head around touching Oliver of JUH at this point.

Some things when broken just can’t be put back together again.

The ultimate Humpty Dumpty.

All the kings horses, men, AI, satellites and quantum computers just won’t crack the code here IMO… as sad as that is.

Best to them both

I'm not going to pretend that BF is a perfect community, but I'd describe it as people who are football lovers and for the most part folks watch beyond just their own team. Yes there'll be people who'll be more focused on only their team but they understand the greater league

With FB it seems more are simply focused on Geelong and don't necessarily have a rounded view of what goes on outside of KP, where they may rely on stats or the ladder to see what's happening elsewhere

We are all Geelong supporters and everyone does their own way.. but yes.. sometimes the eyes just have to roll lol and channel the inner John McEnroe.. you cannot be serious!!

not really man, he shown similar to what knevitt, clohesy, mullin, etc and dont think anyone here excited about those guys. They can be good AFL players but no one calling sportsbet about AA odds for those guys.

Mullin has shown enormous development in a short period of time.

I still think we are inpatient. These guys have yet to reach 25 games. Think about that, yet to play 25 games and we (not you sexyhunk) want them traded or demoted to the VFL never to be seen again.
