Agree. Worpel is one of only a handful of Horks players I can stand, he's not a grub like most of the others. And with Bruhn possibly out for good, we have a serious need for that kind of player in the midfield.

He was a massive Cats fan growing up, so was his whole family. I reckon the Worpels would be stoked to jump on the blue and white train!

Interested in what people think are his best attributes. Contested ball? I've always thought that he was a bit of an in-between player, not really excelling in any area. Don't know much about what he's like as a person, but a Western Heights kid, can see him belonging.

Sure, but the problem is that TDK would absolutely not come cheap. If Conways comes good, that makes TDK basically a whole lot of capital that we could have spent elsewhere. It's not like a gun mid, where one player's availability has very little effect on others.

I can’t see anyway where the eagles are letting Reid go this year, when he’s out of contract they might have too.
But it’s a very slim chance they do this year, the only way I see it happening this year is if it’s closer to when Judd left. And Reid says he wants to go back to Victoria and lets more of a bidding war play out where the eagles would get a big return for him.

Not saying anyone is wrong with what they’ve heard about Reid wanting to leave and Geelong being his preferred destination. There just too much too lose for them this year if they aren’t able to control the trade more and get a big return. When a player is in contract it needs the 3 parties to agree and I just can’t see that happening this year. We saw that with Oliver last year when two parties did but the Demons didn’t come to the table.

There’s a few holes we need to fill and the midfield is the biggest issue. Warpol would be a good addition for the role he’d play and the cost.
There’s question marks on some of our younger mids and it might be time to see if there are other spots they can make it in the team. Cause we need to fill some other roles, maybe Clark or Knevitt could play down back. We’ve got some quality mid and keys there but we need some small defenders to compliment them.

Best case for mine would be TDK as a FA and then one of Reid, Butters kr Rowell… I do have a feeling Reid is a chance, but that’s just my gut.

Worst case we get nothing.

I’d be happy enough with one of them… 2x would be champagne popping stuff.

There is a middle ground though, considering of the five, we've been branded the favourites for two of those names, and heavily linked to two others.

Agree that there's a few here who seem to have already reached the "Lock it in Eddie" stage...but pipedream is a bit much too IMO.

Pipedream would be someone like Josh Treacy, Caleb Serong, or Josh Dunkley.

Objectively the exact type of players that we need, but if there was a percentage below 0 of any of them happening, that would be it.

Jack McRae has been a bloody good acquisition for the Saints. I've always rated him as a gun. Was there much talk in this thread last year about him? He'd be pretty hand in our midfield this year.

Why would west coast hold onto him for one more year?

They are going nowhere next year, he is clearly not loving his time at West coast and the most likely outcome is that his trade value drops in the next 18 months.

If West coast were smart they would consider all options and if they got a good offer for him this offseason they should take it.

I am not sure if West Coast are smart.

Others were cautious as he still had $2 -> $2.1 million remaining on his contract, and even Bulldogs fans raised concerns he was slowing down

Any potential link was knocked on the head pretty quickly when the early discussions of Macrae moving on from the Bulldogs also indicated he had no interest in moving down the highway and wanted to stay in Melbourne

I was told his existing contract is higher than what we've brought in Bailey Smith on. That's a massive amount to pay a guy until he's 33 when he looked to be struggling as a 29 year old.

Paying him that this season looks fine. Paying him as a top 5 player in your team when he's 32 in 2 years time could look like a terrible investment.

Not sure he was interested anyway.

He is but they swapped him for Kennedy who is putting up career best numbers and is probably on less than 50 % of mcraes salary. I doubt the dogs are unhappy it's a win-win.

Which makes it even more funny, how did they find room for Kennedy in their inside mid rotation and not Macrae.

Because Kennedy plays half forward as well and scores goals/creates goal assists. Macrae doesn't.

Kennedy has 14 goals/assists this season, Macrae has 4.

Because Kennedy is decent as a part time forward whereas mcrae was useless as a forward. Besides getting rid of mcrae wasn't about that it was about clearing cap space for Richards and Darcy primarily which it has. That Kennedy has played so well is a bonus. Dogs would be very happy as would st kilda and Geelong. Win all round.
