With GWS trading Pickett, Ahern, McCarthy, Steele, Stewart, Marchbank, Palmer and Hoskin-Elliott this year, it's becoming clear they've entered a period where they'll need to shift quality players seeking more opportunities and/or money, on an annual basis.

At the end of 2017, the following players will be coming out of contract:

Jacob Hopper
Dylan Shiel
Devon Smith
Jonathan Patton
Matthew Kennedy
Steve Johnson
Adam Tomlinson
Matthew Buntine
Josh Kelly
Dawson Simpson
Harrison Himmelberg
Zac Williams
Matt Flynn
Jeremy Finlayson
Adam Kennedy

Who would you like to see your club to target?
Who can you realistically see leaving?
Which players are likely to re-sign?

I think Dylan Shiel could prove an interesting prospect. His future was heavily speculated early in 2015 when he was out of contract, with talk of huge 6-7 year deals being on the table from victorian clubs. In the end, he re-signed for two years, which begs the question: why only two years?

I am sure Carlton will be all over that list.

I expect North to be heavily into Kelly (North links) and Shiel (again).

We put away a lot of cap space with our retirements this season and expected draft position next season is going to be to our benefit.

Jacob Hopper - have him
Dylan Shiel - yes please
Devon Smith - love to have him
Jonathan Patton - him too
Matthew Kennedy - sure
Steve Johnson - nah
Adam Tomlinson - nah
Matthew Buntine - maybe
Josh Kelly - definitely
Dawson Simpson - no thanks
Harrison Himmelberg - funny name
Zac Williams - surprised by how quickly he has come on, will have him
Matt Flynn - who
Jeremy Finlayson - idk who he is either
Adam Kennedy - used to like him but he's a crab, we'll probably just get him in all likelihood

Would love Smith or Kelly.

The reason there was a bit of fire sale this year was that our list size and cap room was coming in line with every other club so in all likelihood the days of fire sales are gone.

You'll still lose quality because clubs will offer big bucks to all your premium players.... they might not get their 1st target but eventually a lot of talent will exit GWS.

Any club that has 2 first round picks will go after Kelly and Shiel
Yes the club with 2 first round picks, the most salary cap, the best group of youngsters and whom just made finals will get JKelly, especially when they on top of that secured free agent Nat Fyfe.
;) lucky club that. Reckon that club would be certain to win the flag not like long after. :). ;). :)

i can see Jacob Hopper and Matthew Kennedy looking for opportunity elsewhere if they don't crack it for a regular spot in the seniors. way too good to be playing in the NEAFL.

What are you talking about? We had stuff all injuries and they both played seniors with Hopper playing finals and we will getting one of Kennedy's best mates tonight.

Hopper played 3 games this season and Kennedy 10, i'll respectfully disagree that they are regular first team members.

out of interest who is Kennedy's best mate?
