Always sells his team-mates into trouble - how many times does he handpass to someone with two opponents on their hammer.

Is too skinny and weak, and can not beat an opponent one on one, nor once the ball hits the ground. It's not worth it for the one run through the middle he treats us all to each game.

Spot on! The only time Cooney did anything was when he went forward and Thornton picked him up, and the first decent thing Jonno had done all day was when he kicked a goal on Scotty. Can't believe he gets a game! Hopefully Grover will be back next week.

The problem is Thornton gives his opponent too much space in the hopes he can get the ball and run off. This should not be the first thought for an every game backman.

Love the old Thronton run out of defense, into the corridor, handpass to the first person he sees, that person gets tackled, turnover. It is like clockwork.

If he is going to be played it needs to be out of the backline.

Geez, I was going to start a thread on Thornton, but as it took me two hours to get home, I see people have beat me to it.

He loses in a one-on-one contest every time.

He doesn't read the play well and thus can't get across to help other defenders.

His decision making and pressure skills are diabolical.

I remember watching him one game and instead of backing into a contest he turned and watched the opponent take an easy chest mark and goal. I keep saying it at work to all the Freo supporters that he is rubbish. Today definately proved my point.

I felt really sorry for Thornton when the Doggies players would stand off him when he had the ball and just stand near the Freo players around him. They were told that he will look for the handball to the nearest Freo player. I really do like the guy but he shouldnt play next week.
