Its a worry. Its already cost us one grand final. We should have kicked 5 or 6 goals in the last quarter today. Hopefully Podsiadly back in will help.

From which shots? Ling from the boundary? Varcoe's quick snap? Selwood from 55 metres? The two or three off hands?

The only poor miss was from Stokes.

I was perplexed he went for that. Was never going to happen. Despite the conjestion, wouldn't a top of the square contest been the way to go? It may still have been thrumped through, but equally someone could have sharked it, or even a stoppage 15 out would've been a better result.

Most of the shots were hard, except for Stokes easy miss, although Selwood should have tried to hit the square instead of having a shot.

Pods should help the goalkicking, but he's only one player, they all need to step up in that area and get the job done.

Inaccurate kicking again

Last quarter one forward entry for St Kilda had produced a goal.
Geelong's eight scoring shots produced 1.7.

My point is iff a key forward can Kick 3 goals and miss 3 gimmies from close up is it a good game? The yips are still there

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

I am very peeved off with our conversion rate for goal this year. Cameron Mooney has been the main culprit and there is a heavy reliance on Stevie J, Matty Stokes, Travis Varcoe and Shannon Byrnes to kick the majority of the goals to win the game.

I have resigned to the fact that we will lose this Friday night and bow out in straight sets. With the JPOD coming back into the side, the match committee will look at keeping Mark Blake in the side ahead of the Tomahawk.

Gee, Mark Blake. WE will never win a Grand Final with Mark Blake as the 2nd back up ruckman. He is the weakest link in the side.

As I have mentioned on K-Rock and SEN, SEN's golf guru Mark Allen should help out Cam Mooney and the forwards in their mental approach to kicking for goal. Golfers know how to nail the pressure puts and shots when the stakes are high.

Secondly, we do need a ruck coach at Geelong. If Bomber Thompson does not call Sam Newman to help out Trent West, Brad Ottens and Dawson Simpson, I think Sam should ring up the club to offer his services for nothing.

People do not know that Sam Newman tutored Mark Jamar 5 years ago when he was Melbourne's ruck coach and Mark Jamar is in All Australian contention!!

We are gone!! Gary Ablett Junior has signed his GC17 contract and we can kiss the flag goodbye!!

The Cats of 2010 will be known as the handbags. And, history has a funny way of repeating itself. When the premiership window is open, great sides win flags. At the minute, our players do not have the hunger and match conditioning (Joel Corey and Ottens) to win the flag.

Cam Mooney is pass his best and the Geelong Football Club would be better off in offering him to GC17 for a high draft pick!! I think GC17 should go after Mooney instead of G Ablett Junior!

Get stuffed mate.

You keep spewing out the same shit over and over again.

You are living in the 90's

we already did..

Cam Mooney is pass his best

Was one of our best last night, still a crucial element in our forward line. Who would replace him?

offering him to GC17 for a high draft pick

we would probably get a first rounder, if that, and that would be what, pick 16-17-18? not worth it

again, you show you know little about the game, nice post ;)

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

ha ha, Cam would only get us a 4th rounder at best.

Hey Gov,

Why don't you pull out the squeaky voice and call SEN again on Monday.

But rather than wanting to hear yourself talking to 'Patrick' why don't you call FIGJAM Mark Allen and ask him if he has ever been involved in a pressure situation like the cats were in the last quarter.

Answer; He hasn't. And if he has is was a dud at it. Because he has never won anything in his life!

Add to that he would have never played under pressure with bent clubs. Which was effectively what the cats were dealing with in the wet.

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

We were beaten by a more committed, desperate, and disciplined Saints unit. It's a testament to our guys that we fought back and nearly pinched it. You can't give top sides those starts and expect to win.

When it counts and where it counts, Jimmeh never lets you down. You're a star.:thumbsu:

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

1.7 looks appalling. We should have done better but this was not like the Mooney type misses. This was not the 08 GF.

The best forward in history have about a 2 out 3 conversion. In those conditions 30 metres out dead in front is a 50/50. The 2 best chances were Stokes and Varcoe and we should have got one of those but the rest were really 1 in 4 type shots of which we got 1 thru Chappy. Mooney, Mackie Selwood outside of 50 in those conditions , Ling super tight angle. I find the misses frustrating but totally understandable.

The real reason we lost was night midfield looking they are on the wrong side of their best in the first half and our backline looking like a hackline.

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

I dont think our kicking was that bad in the last quarter, apart from Stokes's set shot and i think a Varcoe(?) snap all our shots were tough chances.

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

Joel's decision to torp it was not a very smart decision at all. And Harry's bomb in was piss weak.

In fact several times in the last quarter there were oppurtunities for a player with a mark inside 50 that normally would have looked for a better corridor option that didn't.

I hope Harley makes a trip to see the boys and have a quiet word this week.

His words might be able to pull some of their heads in.

Yeah, I can understand why we missed most of them because they were on bad angles or outside 50. Selwood probably shouldn't have gone for the torp though.

Go "support" another team you ****ing arse.

He made the distance with ease, and didn't miss by much. So it's fair enough. One way to beat an 18 man flood.

I have no problem with Selwood taking a shot. If he didn't make the distance I would be annoyed - but ultimately you can't kick a goal without having a ping at the sticks.

Re: Inaccurate kicking again

I am very peeved off with our conversion rate for goal this year.

We were the equal most accurate team in the AFL this year (56%) after being only average over 2007 - 2009.

We haven't achieved 56% conversion since 2000.

Some people have no clue.

Totally irrelevant. Harley's gone. If the "culture" and everything else we're told is so impressive there who the captain is shouldn't make any difference.

The truth is too many players aren't prepared to work hard enough for four quarters. It's been going on all season - mostly defended by fans on here - so don't act surprised when they repeat it in a final. They simply don't look as battle-hardened as St.Kilda and Collingwood. They're working harder and are hungrier. While that remains we're no chance.
