Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

And that's fine, the club got the players they want.

Humphrey probably goes for a couple of firsts next year. Ben King is RFA which will be a monster contract if he leaves resulting in another first.

Don't worry about the Suns next year, they might even have a go at another clubs FS/NGA player AND match Archie Hill. Any WC NGA players we can repay the favour on for the Addinsall/Murray bids? :)
Yeah, I am happy with tightening F/S, academy, NGA rules after we loaded up, haha.

Looking forward for clubs and their fans to complain about new rules.

AFL did not announce new rules in Dec as predicted by Twomey. Something is telling me that clubs with top candidates are pushing hard against stricter rules.

Don’t we get to match a RFA. Will be much more than 1 first compo pick if we force a trade for King

Sun wont be finishing low for a long time.

And with their academy access they wll always have access to more kids.

Entering an ongoing bidding war against a bottom 3 side will only turn out one way, poorly for them.

Agreed Humphrey looks like he wants out in a big way.

King will be interesting. Both brothers seem to be injury prone so big long term deals are risky IMO. Saints King had more surgury is month, knee this time.

With priority access so many highly rated kids they will lose decent fringe players every year to land later picks as well.

I expect some very good players will alao be looking elsewhere for opportunity.

Both brothers lol

They ended up blowing two drafts worth of picks plus traded in picks to pay for their kids.

Dont have much at all to match in 2026.

Suns didnt facilitate any pick upgrades with the Eagles and ended up paying a hefty price it seems.

With bid rules getting tighened even more this is the last academy rort draft for them or the Lions.
Suns 2026 & 2027 teams haven’t been that strong in academy or U16 nationals games.

Probably figured this was the last draft to cash in on, so were willing to trade out of next year to get all there academy kids.

Suns have made a concerted effort to get as many of their academy kids as possible, to negate losing the likes of Humphrey and King.

Others have already mentioned that Suns probably will still be able to generate extra picks in future drafts.

Any trade requires both teams to give and get something. Obviously the Eagles weren’t able to satisfy what the Suns needed to make a deal happen, so both parties moved on.

As for the Lions, we’ll prioritise who’s best for our team over Academy allegiances. It’ll be harder to match high end talent, but we don’t look to have any top 10 kids in the near future.

Depends who is chasung him. Eagles would offer their 1st pick.

Humphries out of contract might get two later 1sts.
The Suns will match on Walter (especially if King leaves), and would want more than he was drafted for. Much more.

Humpa is OOC 2028 so it will be Melbourne's 2026 and 2027 firsts if they are back in for him.

Sure.

Just my opinion to a post asking what would be offered.

The presumption being OOC and player has requested a trade.

Humphrey in contract to 2028 can help when the club is happy to retain him.

So much young talent on the Suns list plus Petracca. More than a few quality players will be playing VFL. Great position to be in as a list and a couple likely will be tempted elsewhere with better opportunity and money.

Its just a question of who?

Or we match the contract and you have to trade.

Umm, how can you match the contract? He's not a free agent, lmao.

Or better still we keep him. Jed's not going to screw the club over. IMO he extends anyway.

Mad Eagles supporter, supposedly disgruntled about being left out of the senior side, GC went and got JUH and are known to trade out players on a carousel every year to stockpile high picks.

I don't think Jed would think GC gaining the equivalent of what he was drafted for would be 'screwing' over the club. What a ridiculous statement.

Yes, he's not a FA so either a trade is done or you can clears throat "WALK HIM TO THE DRAFT"

Love the tough talk though, it's a long year to keep it up :thumbsu:

I mean, you asked for what's potentially 2 top 5 picks for a bloke taken at pick 3 and isn't even in Hardwick's senior side.

We'll pay those if you want to chuck in Rogers and Davies and send something back.

What happens when he plays all year in a team making finals?

Will the lure of WC still be irresistable?

He's played 30 games in his first two seasons, that's a lot for a KPF in a team with finals hopes. I get why you want him, he's going to be a gun.
