Hi y'all, who is going to the GC game? We find ourselves in the area where we didn't think we would be, so naturally we're hanging around to see the boys play. Where to the Freo fans congregate? Where should we try to get seats, obviously would prefer sitting amongst fellow Freo Fans.

I'll be going, not sure what the go with Metricon is though as also just in Brissy recently. Does it ever sell out or would we need to book tickets beforehand?

Hey guys, I'll help you out a little bit here. Click this link to read everything you need to know about transport to the game. It can be tricky if you don't know what you're doing and conditions have changed from last year now that the Gold Coast tram system is up and running. The opposition fans sit up the river end in section 148. If you can't get into the official opposition bay then you can easily get into section 149 or 147 as it is general admission. Metricon has only ever sold out for Collingwood games so you won't have to worry about that.

Transport to and from the game is free for four hours with a pre-purchased ticket. Presumably, most Freo fans will stay in Surfers Paradise/Broadbeach so you would use the tram to get to Broadbeach South tram station and take the shuttle bus to the stadium. If you're confused then just click on the link above or ask me in this thread. Opposition fans in the past have used Emerald Lakes Golf Club (over the road from the stadium) as a meeting point before and after games. It should also be noted that the shuttle bus that takes patrons back to Broadbeach South tram station stops right next to the casino so that's an option as well.

Good stuff Matchu

PWRof1 I won't be going up for this game. There will be a few of the Vic cheer squad heading up and sitting behind the goals at that open end of the crowd. The only downside to that part of the ground is you have to turn around to view replays on the big screen behind as their isn't another big screen around the ground.

That's true. In a few years a second screen will be installed at the other end for the Commonwealth Games so it's a temporary issue.

The Club told me they had seats allocation in block 225 which they have handed back to Ticketex, I'll check details and get back here. We're coming from Lake Wivenhoe to Gilston to Broadbeach. I've been passed the stadium a few times so I know where it is. I'm taking a Maori mate whose never been to a live AFL match. Looking forward to a great day, hopefully seeing the Gu there too.

It's probably worth mentioning that parking around the stadium is limited and will cost you at least $10, if you plan on driving. The several golf clubs in the area offer parking at a price but as I said it's limited so you may want to get there early just to make sure you don't miss out.

On my only trip there the shuttle bus was very efficient. As was said, free with a pre purchased game ticket. GA is pretty limited and poor viewing.

After battling with mobiles/Ticketmaster & slow connections I managed to get seats 5 rows back block 110, centre of the ground. Can see the screen, so thanks for the heads up Seppo.

Actually I think you'll find most public transport in South East Queensland is free if you can show your ticket on the day. Hell I've been waved through just by wearing team colours. Although officially, as already mentioned, i think it's within 4 hours of the game

Cararra is one of my least favourite places to go. Bland atmosphere, difficult to drive to and rather grating supporters who last time after I bought General Admission wearing Freo colours proceeded to tell me that all the seats were taken much like the school bus scene in Forrest Gump . The golf club across the road however is nice though.
