I just logged on to say you probably have the tips. šŸ˜ž I had an issue last year after a lesson where I couldn't take the club back to start my backswing. No issues on practice swings, but when I addressed the ball I would literally stand there for 20 seconds frozen. I stopped playing for a bit and tried to 'forget' the problem. How do you go when practicing chipping?
Fine with just one hand (my leading right hand). All over the shop with 2. It’s probably something that only heaps of practice and then successful chipping in comp will only fix.

Not a lot is still due to the chipping yips. This has developed and got worse over the last 15 years after my three daughters were born. No time to both practice and play. Before that I would boldly say that I had nearly the best short game at my club.
Yeah yips is tricky...maybe see your pro to give advice on how to get around it. I had a lesson and some of the things I was doing wrong were not enough width in my backswing. My hands were too close to my side on my chips. So I was to take the club further away (whilst turning) before breaking my wrists. The next thing was to let gravity bring the club back down (importantly maintain that wrist angle.....don't flip). And finally, the most important thing for me is when the club is approaching the ball....start turning your body so your chest finishes facing where the ball goes (see Phil with that flop). This is super important cause if you hit a bit chunky your body will pull the club around so it doesn't dig so much.

I was practicing on the 9th (no one around yest) and it was quite wet down here atm and I was doing the trick that Rick Shiels uses where you just have the toe of the club on the ground to avoid it getting stuck in the wet turf and it was working a treat.

Pres any ideas?...I would say make sure that most your weight is on your right (front) foot and you turn your body at contact (not just use your arms) to try and get a consistent low point in the swing path. I would like to watch you hit one handed bunker shots though!
Very difficult to diagnose based on a text description of the action.

Lebbo73 any chance of uploading a video?

Generally the fats and thins are a lead hand (as opposed to a trail hand) issue.

And just because you get better results pitching one handed only with the right hand doesn't mean the right hand isn't the culprit!

The LW has been handy for bunker play as our bunkers lack sand and are more like dirt.
My 60 is only used for full shots, bunkers and occasionally the flop over a bunker or if I have short sided myself....my 56 however is my go to and second fav in the bag behind my trustly old putter.

My 60 is generally only used for bunkers. Thinned or chunked to many full swings that i have put it away for that.
Around the greens i usually use my 50 unless i need a bit of extra loft

I am actually using my 56 for the high, flop a bit more as well. Just opening the face and trusting it. It as an older wedge but the grind/bounce seems to suit me.

I could watch Moe (my avatar is Moe...not me haha) hit it all day long. There will be quite a few that would never have heard of him. Almost the opposite of what gets taught nowadays....well a lot of it is. "How long have you been using that tee?...7 years"    "When was the last time you missed a fairway?....7 years ago" gold. Shot 59 at the age of 62. He is almost like "rain main" of golf. Genius.

It's such a weird looking swing when you compare to tour swings nowadays. I notice how much his arms extend on follow through, they say feel is not real but I certainly know that when I am striking my best it "feels" like my arms are really extended throughout the swing and follow through.

I don't get any real feel in my full shots at all (unless I am trying to hit a low one under wind and take a bit off, or trying to shot shape)...but wedges and half wedges I do...I always think back to my time at pitch and putt....what did I do on that 40m hole compared to that 70m hole and try to play the same shots. Seen Moe before?

Only seen that old bloke in your avatar

Anyone ever tried heads up putting before? I was mucking around in the yard and it's actually pretty intuitive. It almost feels like bowling or throwing a ball sort of, the speed and stroke comes from the intuitive mind and you don't look at the ball. I might give it a go on the practice greens when I can play again.

Dr Rotella espouses it's benefits in his books. I think Davis Love's brother made a Walker Cup team by looking at the hole 100% of the time.

I'm keen to give it a trial next round just to see. To me it makes theoretical sense.

Seem to remember someone trying to get it up and running and designing a putter to suit. But I think they had you standing with your chest facing the hole and the putter hanging by your right side for the right handed golfer. Like a bowler (lawn bowls) would roll the ball whilst looking at the hole.

Not sure to be honest. Think I read an article in the 90s in a golf magazine that was lying around on my coffee table. Perhaps an Aussie guy. Obviously didn't take off.

Found an article with some vids attached teaching how to go about it.

Actually maybe I was thinking of Gary McCord
