This is true, however I feel it is the more postive option to play him in the centre.
Not in the last quarter it wasn't. We had to manufacture a win. Not hope.

Problem is until we get croad & jacobs back I think the feeling is we need to get some experience down in the backline.
Hodge provides that.
A cynic would probably note the irony in the supposable strong pro Hawk crowd at the Tesltra Dome last week given the justification for playing games in Tasmania...am I right BB
Luckily I'm not a cynic
Terrible game all round really![]()

I actually hadn't thought about that connection Hawkk.
I suppose I am not a cynic.
I was merely commenting that I found it surprising the level of support for the blues in tasmania tonight when we have committed so much to play there..

I love the development, with our Pritchard and Hudson x2 plus probably others that I'm not aware of. Now Birchall and Mitch Thorp. We owe the apple isle, beautiful playing surface. Our young inexperienced fwd setup didn't really mesh. The fast leading of Willow seems to have been sacrificed by the coach for getting some experimentation into the others up there. But Little suffered in the marking contests by the bullocking of Roughy trying to take the "specky" at every attempt. What's the point of that without Moss, McGlynn and Willo at least somewhere to feed off the pack as crumbers? Boyle an Roughy to take that mark at the top af the goal square with flank leads of Little and Willo would have been more cohesive. A glaring difference between confidence levels was Carlton's 9pointer scored be Murphy after taking a couple of steps, as opposed to Heath Scotland kicking it out on the full, the resultant free being taken by Young. But he choses to redirect and consequently surrendered possession at chf, instead of taking a shot from the boundary on his preferred side when the whole of York Park and the TEN viewing public would know that the scoring distance was a gimme to him. Experience against a lot of displays of uncertainty, nerves and fumbling. The composure of our man Murph is tremendous, he was made to play our great game, so too Gilly...ZAC is here to stay! Neitz and Fevola........Zac Dawson has done himself proud. So what's the deal, what do Hawk supporters think about playing down there generally?

btw, you need a better answer to FB. Are you guys convinced by Zac? I think that if he is your answer, he has some way to go. What do you guys think?
So because Hawthorn play a few games in Tasmania every now and then, every Tom **** and Harry is supposed to stop supporting their own team in favor of Hawthorn? Honestly...![]()
Heard Bateman had been over in Perth for a family wedding on Friday night. Flew back from Perth Saturday. Hardly the best preparation for a game. Heard the game on radio and he seemed to start off well, but heard little of him after that. Wasn't sure whether he was on the ground or not.Totally agree. Throw in Bateman and Roughead as well.
We lacked intensity. Very disappointing.
I don't think I said that Xyakks.
But we have been playing there for a number of years now and have just made a 5 year commitment to tasmania. We have also had a strong connection with tasmania over a number of years having players like the hudsons & pritchard in our team.
As a result it is generally considered the Hawks get good support in tasmania. - this is one of the reasons why we got the sponsorship agreement with Tasmanian Government.
I also always notice when we play in tasmania we get very good crowd support (usually when the opposition scores you don't here anything) and considering we were playing the blues who I don't think have ever played there the support they got actually was surprising.
It has tarnished the identity of the club. It has resulted in less exposure which hurts future sponsorship and membership. It has contributed to the fact that 7 interstate games are not shown on FTA this year. It means we really only have 7 genuine home games a year with adequate home game member privileges. It has a significantly negative impact on supporter growth in Victoria due to the fact that fans simply cannot follow the club from week to week. As another supporter just stated - it sucks!
That could potentially happen, but to date that's unfounded.
Hawkk, could you please explain how it could possibly have a positive effect in supporter growth in Victoria?
That's all I got out of the game it is only pre season comp so a lot of the guys don't look like they get out of 3rd gear. Croady, Vanders, Smith, Jacobs, Brown and Ozzie will make a difference.
Carlton have been around for over 100 years. Tasmanians have been following Carlton for over 100 years. For over 100 years Carlton have been one of the most popular clubs in the state. Before 2002 no club ever played games in Tasmania. Tasmanians grew up supporting their favorite team from watching the TV so explain exactly why you think Carlton would not have any supporters who were willing to goto the game?
It seems to me that the poor old Carlton supporters who normally have to travel to Melbourne for the weekend to see their side play live would jump at the opportunity of watching their club play a game in Tasmania.
