We had to leave when we were 10 points down to get to a surprise birthday dinner before the guest of honour.

As we’re walking away we can hear the crowd and we’re thinking “Could we??!”

Pull out my phone, AFL app, we’re a point ahead, watching the seconds tick down - yes!!

Of course, if we’d stayed to see it, that might have affected the result…

So I’m taking all the credit 😎
Fair enough, too. :sneaky:
Thanks for the thrills.

I roasted Dmac from my couch. It would have been difficult for Dmac to get the ball that high with intent let alone without it. Maybe you're right about Sloane not being the target.
I suspect... but I don't know - which is why I originally asked for opinions of those who were at the game, and saw it live.

Good shout, went back and gif'd it. Very strong case for it rebounding off the Demon's arm. You see a couple frames of it travelling more sideways before it completely changes trajectory. He actually does handball it up, but the Dee swats it down.

I actually thought that Murray was trying to handball to someone or someone else. If you look at the angle of his hand movement it wasn't in the direction of the boundary line near the point post. It was more towards a backward handball to his right.

People now arguing it's "intent" so even if Spargo hit it out of bounds Murray still intended for it to go out, so it should have been a free kick.
Does that also mean that all our points count for goals because we intended them to go through the big sticks?

Good:
Walker taking a week off and clearly benefiting from it. Needs to take another one in about Round 18 to help
him get through the last 5 rounds.

The continual development of Thilthorpe. Was fantastic to see some more of his tricks on show in the Ruck.

Ben Keays in the first half. Was an absolute monster.

Seedsman - arguably the biggest surprise packet of the season for us so far. Looks a lock for a top 5 B&F finish (Keays, Laird and Walker are the other locks at this stage, injury permitting).

D-Mac - no, I wouldn’t have picked him, but he was genuinely good on the day.

The continual development of Jordon Butts. Looks the perfect Talia replacement. Yet another fantastic rookie list addition. If only we were as adept at selecting first rounders as we are late picks and rookies!

A return to form for Doedee. Funny how that happened when a taller defensive unit was selected. Coincidence? I think not.

Laird battled all day.

Smith had some nice moments.

Murray’s last 5 mins or so were huge (it must be said, he was pretty bad before that, but that shows huge character).

Rowe has had a fantastic last couple of games. 40 touches in the 2 weeks in fact. If you’d told me he’d do that a few weeks back I would’ve thought we were talking about SANFL footy. Generally makes great decisions too.

Berry had a couple of moments in this game that just made you go “imagine this kid in 3-4 years”. He is a BULL. Good luck tackling him from the age of 20-30. Such a great draft selection when you look at the other players selected in the 5-10 picks after him. Dare I say it, looks a 250 gamer.

THAT kick by Schoenberg to the Tex lead. Wow.

McHenry’s courage was another major highlight.

Lever giving up a couple of goals from howler errors was delicious.

Weird thing to include in “good”, but Clayton Oliver’s second half was absolutely ridiculously good. One of the very best halves of footy I’ve ever seen played by a mid. It wasn’t just that he had 25 touches and 2 goals for the half, it was what he did with those touches. Absolute silk.

Bad:
The interpretation of “holding the ball” has reached farcical proportions. You watch 3 different games and there’s no consistency whatsoever.

Ugly:
Jake Lever’s rat face

Use #portlogic to win this argument.

It looked like Spargo deliberately tapped it out of bounds to generate a throw in, deep in their forward 50.

Doedee was emerging as that option in the video shot...

A little disappointing... it appears some members are staying away because of covid fears.
I wonder if it's ticket holders not going or tickets not being sold?

This could all be resolved by that Melbourne player admitting he touched it, like he clearly did.
Get the feeling that - right or wrong - this umpiring decision that went our way last night will cost us umpteen games over the next decade, like Jameson's holding the ball vs Fitzroy.

I couldn't care less if no Melbourne player touched it and we blatantly got away with favoured umpiring decision, in fact I like this even more, to make up for all the times we've been screwed when in that situation.

Yeah it was 100% deliberate and yeah I love that we got away with it.

Do we?

I know we did pre-Covid but I haven't seen figures lately
We had a total 55K members last year, which was a 9K drop from 2019.... with the covid/spoon factor.

Wouldn't think this year would be lower.

Question is how many are regular home ground attendees. Would have thought we would have at least 40K paid up.... definitely more than the 31K who attended.

I thin there is also a drop off with seat allocation being Moved and for my part an unwillingness to travel public transport with lax condition.

he played a good game. still dont rate him though. whoever was playing on oliver got completely destroyed.
Well the coach said he was teamed and not solely watch. Whichever way he got off the chain. Maybe should have put Jordan Butts on him. He’s a glove.
