Not an auspicious finish to such a magnificent career, but it has been a wonderful journey that Robert Harvey has had with the Saints.

I will miss his presence and I'm sure the club will miss his wisdom, knowledge and leadership.

Farewell and thanks

Well done robert. The afl is not going to be the same with out you running around.

I was in tears when he was carried off - Ive just stoped now

It wont be the same next year

Its hard watching him in tears but what do you do when you end the one thing that's been constant in your life for 21 years

Goodbye, Good luck and Thank you Robert

Congrats on a fantastic career. My excitement over the win was overshadowed by the quiet tear i shed when it sunk in that i'm not going to see the superstar on the field again :(

Very sad to see him address his teamates after the game. What a champion he has been. He is in the top five players I have ever seen play the game. Without a doubt.

I hope he stays on with the Saints in some sort of coaching role. He must!!

A wonderful footballer whose ability on field was matched only by his respect off it.

What a magnificent testament that he was adored not just by lovers of the St Kilda Football Club, but by all fans of AFL footy.

Best of luck to you, Harvs - I'm sure everyone wishes you the greatest success in life after football.

What a champ. We'll never see the likes of him again down at Moorabin (or Seaford or where ever we end up). Even tonight, did what the old man does best. What a champ

absolute bloody legend was playing before i was born so it will be weird to see the saints run out next year without him

It was hard holding back the tears when he was carried off, but Im like, I'll never live it down if I do. :p

Thanks Harves, you made supporting St Kilda bearable!

Best of luck with the rest of your life mate, have a good one!

Had a tear in my eye as he left the ground.

Thanks for the memories Banger, for as long as i've been alive you've worn the red, black and white.

The greatest ever saint.

:(

Champion is a word that gets thrown around far too often in football circles, and has been someone cheapened in the process.

I feel like the word is no longer good enough for people like Robert Harvey.

Take a bow Robert.

Dashed down at the end and took these

The man is a deadset legend, and both St Kilda Football Club and the game are the poorer for his retirement

love ya harvs... not gonna be the same without ya:( tonight was just numbing.. was expecting to cry but didn't.. still hasn't sunk in.. i'll wake up tomoro morning and be shattered probably...

harvs, you're a star... no doubt about it

You guys that went to the game may not have seen any of the footage yet.

But Harvey addressed the entire playing group along with club officials. Looked like the emotion got the better of him in the end.

Was really stirring stuff to watch, even as a neutral.

Superstar. Champion, what words can you use to describe such a great man. Played AFL longer then I've been alive, testament to the bloke for making it for 21 seasons in the AFL.

Sad to see him bow out, even in the emotion of realising we just made a grand final, had the lump in the throat and tears welling seeing the great man leave the MCG for the last time ever. :(
