It's insane that both Josh Sinn and Jye Amiss are still available, if the draft panned out how I expected I probably would've gone with Saints NGA prospect Mitchito Owens here because he fits the Melbourne type of midfielder well imo, but when in doubt you go with the KPP first and look at other types later on

Pick 19 - Melbourne - Jye Amiss
East Perth 195 cm
Tall Forward

Amiss has had a lot of different comparisons to currently listed AFL players, from Fritsch to Riewoldt to Jeremy Cameron, regardless of who you think he plays like the most he's got an enticing skillset as a key forward with his ability to get separation on the lead in the forward 50 really impressive. Of the Key Forwards in the open draft, I think Amiss's traits and current gamestyle translates the best. The Dees don't necessarily have a massive need for a young key forward currently, but by the time Amiss is regularly playing in the best 22 he'll form a damaging combo with the likes of Jackson and Weideman

he was picked at pick 9 to Richmond, Sinn was picked at 16 to Brisbane

Pick 19 - Mitchito Owens - Sandringham Dragons
190 cm
Midfielder/ Utility

Athletic big bodied midfielder who I'm almost certain I've seen play in every section of the ground to a good level over the course of the year, Owens could come in to the Melbourne side and play anywhere whilst he builds himself up to join their already prolific and physically imposing onball brigade

Also considered Darcy Wilmot as I rate him really highly, however feel he's the last sort of player they need positionally, and Sam Butler was also considered along with Arlo Draper, but again didn't feel Melbourne needed more general forwards

pick 23 Hawthorn - Ned Long - Northern Knights - 192cm 88kg - bull inside goal kicking mid

loved what i saw of him earlier in the year, outperformed Josh Ward in the few games they played together, picking up team mates and 2 quality mids from the northern suburbs.

after missing out on Knevitt and Bazzo, i think he is the next on my list ahead of Roberts and a handful of others before the draft starts to thin out a bit imo, the only reason i didnt bid on Fahey was because we dont need general defenders at all.

fightingfury_88 you're up

Pick 24 - Geelong Cats - Darcy Wilmot (Northern Knights)
I'm an absolute sucker for the intercepting half back dasher types and Wilmot fits that bill nicely. Darcy Should provide a bit of pace that Geelong desperately needs and his attack and ball use on the rebound could be a real weapon for his new team. Not turning 18 until December 31 there is still scope for plenty of improvement in this prospect and is likely someone that would have risen further on draft boards if a full NAB League season was played. In coming years I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilmot push onto a wing to replace the likes of Isaac Smith once he retires. Despite the Cats pushing again for a premiership next season, I wouldn't completely rule Wilmot out from contributing immediately in 2022.

weltschmerz is up next I believe.

pick 26 - Hawthorn - Connor MacDonald - Dandenong - 184cm 77kg

averaged around 30 disposals a game, nearly a goal a game, averages around 7 marks and 5 tackles a game in the NAB League(i like how he plays and looking up his stats, he is a beast), was one of the better performers for Vic Country in the Challenge Game, good little pickup at this spot, adding some good depth to our future midfield, was considering a forward at this spot like Judson Clarke, Morgan Ferres and versatile WA pair Kade Dittmar and Brady Hough, but i think MacDonald at this spot is best available and fits a need for us.

WilloTree you're up

Pick 27 - Carlton - Sam Butler - GWV Rebels

Went best available. No point overthinking it here - Butler at 27 is a good get, and could play Round 1.

You're up Smythe
