Love our draft haul. Only thing I would disagree with, is if Tom Brown is available at 25 - we'd be very likely to take him if Knevitt is gone. Zac Taylor another one that most on our board are keen on if available at our first pick.

:)

Thanks for the feedback. Knevitt was my target with pick 24 but he didn't quite make it. I reckon his power and speed through the midfield would be huge for Geelong. I was happy enough though with Darcy Wilmot who provides similar attributes, just not so much experience as a midfielder. I agree Tom Brown would also be a nice fit.

Zac Taylor was high on my list for those picks in the 30s but again he was snapped up earlier so ended up just going best available mid in Roberts.

No worries at all - you did fantastic with the other 4 picks, so seriously only a small complaint (and Wilmot is still not that bad a choice anyway) :)

Would be very, very happy if we somehow snagged Roberts at our pick in the 30's - I would take him with 22 if he was available then (same with Brown, Taylor and Knevitt).

Alleer, Motlop and Lord are all fantastic choices, and all address areas of need (especially Motlop with speed and skill).

Just think, judging by Wells' comments over the trade period, that we'll be looking to go very mid heavy with our picks, as we're very thin in that area when it comes to young talent. My ideal draft period would be us trading up to Pick 23 from the Bulldogs with our Pick 30 and a Future 2nd, and then grabbing Knevitt/Taylor at 24/25, Brown/Taylor at 25/26, Roberts at 31 and Alleer at 42/43 (once bids come in).

Very much doubt that happens haha, but if Wells were to go with what you drafted, but we substitute Wilmot for Knevitt/Brown or Taylor, I would be a very, very happy camper.

Good job!

:)

Dogs with a very tall draft crop this year.

Sam Darcy - we know him, we love him. Beanpole who won't make an impact for a year or two, needs a swimming pool of protein shakes and some time with Aaron Naughton in the weights room, but he could be anything. Most of us hope he'll settle in the back line and give a ruck chop out.

Toby Conway - the Dogs have three rucks. One is 35 and his legs are threatening to fall off, one has played five games and only knows what a "tank" is in terms of video games, and one is Tim English. Having a talented young ruck developing in reserve would be a godsend.

Charlie Dean - stoked that this guy slipped to my third pick. Our CHB is Ryan Gardner, who's a solid battler and tries his guts out, but we don't have much depth in this area. Dean is AFL-ready and I reckon could slot right in to our best 22.

If Conway had been gone, I'd probably have traded down the order. If Dean had been gone, I'd have taken Isaiah Dudley as a quick crumbing type, with the intent of him being a forward.

Think over;

Saints have selected; Jamieson Ballantyne

This one started from a story written by the age. It sounds like he’s a hardworking young man. He’s a classy wingman who operates well in space, sounds like it could be a steal.

WilloTree you’re up. I’m also happy to sell any of picks left.

Pick 59 - Carlton - Joshua Cripps - East Fremantle (ruck/key forward)

My information is that Carlton have already made contact with the younger brother of star Patrick. I thought his second half against SA was very promising where he worked in tandem with Eric Bening in the ruck. He also averaged 3 goals a game over his last 4 games of Colts. A long term project ruckman with plenty of upside. At 199cms he's an excellent size.

Joose you're up.

Pick 60 - Freo picks Luke Polson from Peel Thunder.

Thats it for Freo now, No more selections.

pick 62 - Joshua Browne - East Frem - 185cm 77kg

a real slider from my PoV, i noticed him last year playing in East Frem Colts, i really liked his play for WA V SA in the midfield as a tough inside mid feeding the runners and providing run himself, has good disposal, can be a goal kicker as well kicking 11 goals in 14 games at Colts level, another quality product from the East Fremantle FC in the west a real footy factory.

Good pick. Was sure Joose would take him for Freo.

With Pick 63, the NMFC selects...

Bryce Watson to help get some pace and class in the backline, especially with the departure of Atley and Ham.

With Pick 64, the NMFC selects...

Ronald Fejo Jnr to help get some pace on the wing and hope he can maybe develop into a high half-forward/wing type.

That’s me done for north.

Gosaints12 has the next pick, but I believe he said he’s done. Therefore, it’s over to big boy jackavoy with Port

How’s the wheels on Polson busting out 2nd fastest of the WA boys at the combine in the 20m sprint surprising for such a big guy!!
Athletic for a big guy, for sure. Recruiters like that sort of stuff. Interesting to see where he goes.
