Great Game

If the free that was holding the ball against Hudson was paid when he took the ball out of the ruck contest was paid we might have won. In turn you guys got possesion and scored a goal which stopped our run of 2 goals

Unfortunately for you guys, the interpretation by the umpire was correct. The commentators, need to be educated in the rules of the game,
The umpire did a crap bounce, he then immediately signaled play on, I am sure i heard him say play on as well. therefore holding the ball in the ruck contest is not valid, as its deemed out of that contest, play on , then its normal play, and the correct decision was made.

It was a great match to watch, the best of the weekend. The skill level was good for round one, and so was the willingness and fitness of both teams.
You will make top 4 with that performance.

A pleasure to watch.

You guys ought to be happy with your side today, and congrats on a great game. If Bock had kicked straight, you would all be overwhelmed on how good your side were to comeback, hang on and win. Seriously, it was 3 points, not even a goal.

Well done to the Adelaide players for making the guard of honour for Jonno:thumbsu:
Was a great game to watch and good luck for the rest of the season.

im not making excuses because of how well both teams played but one umpiring decision can effect a close game. this might have been the case. On the flip side had Bock slotted the goal we would have won. Well done both teams. NOW THATS HOW FOOTY SHOULD BE PLAYED. Hopefully now opposition fans will start calling us a attacking team (rather then defencive)

That's the thing it was a great game of football, despite the umpiring. It was fantastic the way both teams fought to the siren and neither tried to shut the game down, and kept attacking. I actually really enjoyed that game despite losing.......and the umpires.

Great game of footy & well done to the Bulldogs especially Johnno :thumbsu:

But why do we always seem to cop these milestone games :(

& could someone tell me why Rob Shirley was on Brad Johnson for most of the last quarter ?

Really enjoyed the game today barring the loss but oh well.

It was great to see attacking footy all game and noone shutting it down

Congratulations Brad Johnson on his 300th and a great second half :thumbsu:

Definitely a great game apart from the result. Fantastic to see attacking footy from both sides.
Well done Johnno on your 300th.

If I can see us playing our kids, playing that style of footy and being consistently competetive I'd be very happy with this year.

Although it's only round 1, I would say this would be one of the games of the season. 126 v 123, need I say anymore. While I wish the result was different, the Bulldogs were deserved winners.

Yeah true I guess...

However three times the umpires bounced the ball in the centre and it went at right angles straight to a crows midfielder. You have to take the good with the bad!

It hurts, another (much expected) 3 point loss in a day game, at the telstra dome, with the roof open. It was a real good game a shootout, but frustrating as well. I thought we played much better attacking footy, we moved the ball quicker and I want to see that more. The pace was electrifying. That 1997 preliminary final was the last time we won a close game against the Westerns but it sure hurt them it must have been so heartbreaking for them because they knew they had that once and only opportunity that day so they must really hate us. Congrats to Brad Johnson for his 300th game, always a fan of him because of the way he plays and is a great person on the field, always aggressive, strong and very physical and just runs his gut out day in and day out not matter if its a hot day or an ice cold day. He's a man that enjoys the job he has most fun doing, playing footy the game he loves the most. He's had a great career and hopefully he can be around for 2 or 3 more years. Andrew McLeod should reach his 300th this year too.

Question in general - As a Crows supporter, are you willing to see us lose the odd game such as yesterday if it means we play a more attractive, flowing, high-scoring brand of football?

From my perspective I think that it is the only way to win a premiership apart from Sydney which goes in the face of this theory.

I would rather have the attitude that we are going to kick a winning score rather than we are going to grind out and strangle a game hopefully on our terms.

Attacking footy will work so long as players are disciplined and know their roles and can execute them with absolute confidence.

Oh, and its much better to watch. So unless we get a few Melbourne type destroyations as a result of attacking footy I say keep on doing what we are doing.
