Good win by the boys today. Braun was BOG imo. We must be a real threat to knock over richmond away next week.

If we do - we have already achieved last years tally of games won.

Also, if we can we a few in melbourne this year, we'll be a real chance for a final 8 finish.

A great win. With games against St Kilda, Geelong and Carlton still to come, i believe we are right on track for a top 8 finish. Actually, the way we are travelling, i would be really dissappointed if we didn't make it into the 8.

Braun BOG? What about Cousins 30 touches, Fletches 25 touches +3 goals, Kerrs 26 touches + 1 goal, Chambers 17 touches + 2 goals, Fido's 4 goals? Its good to see Braun is getting back to his best, but he still has a fair way to go before he earns a BOG.

Braun, Fletcher and Chambers were very impressive today, and Phil Matera and Williams were lively up forward. Defenders didn't need to do much, because your midfield killed ours, and we had no system in moving the ball forward. The scoreboard flattered us, we were absolutely belted, much like last week. :(

D4E, I must have got a different perception being at the game, but he was definately up there for BOG. Some of the 882 commentators also thought so.

Well, I only had the opinion of the news readers and the stats on the AFL website to go by, so i'm probably wrong. No bloody coverage here in Vic at all. Next week the richmond game is being telecast, first time i'll see a H&A game on TV all week (I'd love to attend, but i've ran outta people to go with :( )

I thought it was a good win but at a much lower tempo than against any other side so far and by a long way the poorest.

In a way it gives me a bit more confidence of our playing finals footy because there is clearly a gap in quality between WCE and the Kangaroos based on today's game. Last season we saw that gap when we played jus about everyone outside the bottom four but I'm thinking that wehave definateley got out of that rut now.

I would agree with Brauny being BOG, closeley followed by Fletch and Cuz. Fido was good, especially when he had a class opponent like Picket on him. A mention also about Josh Wooden and Haynes. Both had excellent games but made a couple of big Blues.

It was a great win but I thought that Woosha was good at preparing defenses and that our attack wasn't that good ! But so far we have the best attack in the competition and one of the worst defenses ! I'm not criticising Worsfold. I'm just surprised that our attack is performing beyond all expectations and that our defense is worse than expected. Is this a case where we can't have both ways ? So far, we have kicked 811 goals and the next best team is Adelaide with 722 goals. But we also suffered 754 goals and the only team worse than us is Richmond with 756 goals! What do you people think of this ?

The fact that we've been missing our key defender, Milli, for periods of time could have something to do with it..
But, basically Worsfold has the guys playing a very free flowing, hard running game, which focuses on people zoning off their man to get numbers to contests. Obviously this results in more risks, and if the midfield stuffs up, we tend to get hurt on the rebounds. I'm not really stressed because- A.) It wins games
B.) Its very entertaining to watch.
and
C.) As our younger player's skill level and disposal increases, the number of errors will drop, and there'll be less runs on our defense.

Great win. An important one too...keeps us in the 8 and with a real winnable game next week against Richmond it gives us a real chance of entreching ourselves in the 8. With teams like North, Geelong and Freo starting to fall away, we could distance ourselves from the pack. As D4E's said, we still have games against the Saints, Cats and Carlton to come. Were in agood position 7 games in.

Great perfromance from our midfield, Braun, Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher, Chambers, Judd, Matera were all very good and thrashed the Roos through the middle of the ground. Cox stood up in the ruck, the kid really does have a bright future and the spread of goalscorers was encouraging. Each game we had won this season, Wilson had been prominent in the goals. This time he couldnt get in amongst it but we still easily kicked enough to win the game.

McIntosh and Jako were great in defence and Phillip Matera's return was a welcome one! Williams, Haynes and Gaspar were also lively up forward.

Richmond now in Melbourne...winnable!

I was worried about the high scores kicked against us, even in games we win by big margins, but it really does seem to reflect the style of play. When the game is free flowing, clearances from the centre are paramount. Its okay if they kick a goal, as long as you get the next two centre clearances and kick two.
An area where improvement may still be required are number of goals kicked once we get inside 50m.....ie the ratio of goals to inside 50's. We were very poor last year, but I would like to see how we stack up this year compared to other teams.
The area where a lot of you feel we are still poor is successful clearances from defence once a point has been scored by the opposition. I can't comment because so far I have only seen one game.
I think that Hawthorn play a very similar style of game and will be interested to see how we come up against them.
As for the flooding sides, Sydney and St Kilda, it will also be interesting to see how things go with our style of play versus the heavily defensive approach.

Well when the saints played Collingwood, the pies played very similar to how we are playing, and look how the saints faired, pretty badly. When another team is heavily flooding it is almost impossible for them to score, and with the amount of ball we will probably get from the midfield we will be able to beat the flood with shear number of inside 50's, or even long kicks from outside 50. Just believe heavy flooding really doesn't give the opposition any chance of winning really, unless they play another flooding side.

Braun deserved BOG because not only did he get the ball himself, but he stopped a very dangerous player in Harvey (who is in the top 10 of the AFL for disposals) from getting anywhere near the ball.

The best players aren't only those who can amass 30+ possessions - those who stop damaging players are just as important - and that was Brauns role today.....he played a fantastic game.

I also thought Braun was BOG, even though other players had more stats and others kicked more goals. As MDB said, Braun totally shut out Harvey, who has killed us in the 2 games prior.

Also huge credit (which seems to have gone unnoticed) is for McIntosh who pushed Rocca to a CHF position - when Rocca is best suited to a FF position. Great return from injury to Macca!
