Grigg & Bower

really impressed with bower. so cool under pressure and reliable.

grigg shows a bit, runs all day and not afraid of a contest. his disposal and decison making sometimes is questionable. but hes still only young, that can be improved.

What you said Magnificence. Something special about him. The way he backs himself, I was critical of last year, now I love it. Much like with Simmo, when he used to back himself and get caught, now I just love their run and carry. When will I learn.

Grigg much, much better under pressure tonight. Well done young men.

Bower seemd to get caught out with his usual 'hold' the ball early in the game, but both players were fantastic in the last quarter. A great step up by Grigg.

Grigg needs to work on his desion making when under pressure.

Definately.

But tonight he imposed himself on the game in the last quarter. That is a really really good sign.
He's only played a few games. He is a player.

Bower is a ripper.I loved the positive run out of the backline tonight.

Dare i mention Thornton on a positive night but i really don't think we miss his slow transfer out of defense.

In the last quarter when we couldn't get it out of the defensive 50 Bower took them on and gave us some run. He's improving every week!

i love paulie. every time he gets the ball he looks like he's going to stuff up and cause a turn over, but somehow manages to dispose of it cleanly and efficiently. i feel like im going to have a heart attack every time though!

See, I think he came on in leaps and bounds of his decision making under pressure tonight. And to me the perfect example of that was in the last quarter when he drilled it to Fisher who converted and probably sealed the game. The Grigg I remember would have blazed away, but he had the awareness to spot up Fish and delivery nicely.

My 2c.

Has anyone else noticed that the closer Bower is to being tackled the more likely he will bounce it? It's not a criticism, cos i havn't seem him get caught yet, but jees does it make me have a heart attack.

I was stunned he took that run out of defence with a man a metre behind when we were getting hammered in the last, but that run set up the Simmo goal which reserved the trend. Love the man - will be a gun. :thumbsu:

As for Grigg, not sure about him. Showed some good signs, but still looks lost when he has the ball in his hands. Unsure of himself - though I'm sure that will improve with time and experience (showed a bit in the last).

Bower scares the ____ out of me when he get's the ball and tries to run through packs.

He gets himself in trouble at times by trying to carry it that extra step or two to many.

I like it when he's kicking the ball but his handpasses at times are a bit sloppy.

Grigg is comming along ok, I'm not expecting to hit his straps til 2010.

Bower continues to improve every game and looks to be going from strength to strength.

Has really become an integral part of our backline and is gaining confidence all the time.

Still worries me sometimes by running himself into trouble or bouncing when the opposition is right behind him , but his runs out of defense, when they work, are absolutely fantastic.

Grigg wasn't as good, but he's developing into a solid player.

Bower will be a fantastic player for us for a very long time. He reminds me of a very young Leo Barry... thoughts

Grigga has played under 15 games and is coming along nicely, loved his link up work tonight and defensive pressure.

Russell i though was pretty good, although went missing a bit towards the end of the game, is improving as every week goes on.

Emu has this idiosyncratic way of looking like he is going backwards when he is being chased. Probably one of the main reasons cardiac wards all over Melbourne are bursting at the seams tonight. But my jolly word does he back himself or what? I have confidence in him and Griggy to kick on for us.

Bower = Michael Sexton number 2

quite possibly... with a little more hardness about him, I would actually more The Hyphen #2 :)

Laconic way of moving but seems to have time on the ball to do the special things.

With three Key Defensive Tall players like Waite, Bower and Jamison, is it feasible to move Thornton to CHF? Great work rate, good mark and a great kick of the ball.

Bannister is 191cm as is Walker who both work in and out of the defensive 50.

B: Brown, Jamison, Bannister
HB: Bower, Waite, Walker

Just a thought.

My thoughts on Bower are well documented, love the man! Grigg played his best game last night as well, and is slowly showing what he can do once he gets some experience and confidence.

The other two players who impressed me tonight were Russell and Bentick. Thought they were both fantastic.

has anyone noticed that commentators are constantly mixing these two up! Triple M last week, and seven last night.

From the crowd, they do look similar.
