He wasnt mentioned by Hardwick when questioned about the unchanged line-up going into todays game but he did mention Vickery.

Try Taylor and Goo before the end of the year in the forward line so we can work out how much more recruiting needs to go into the forward line this year.

If we play Gourdis at all, it will be down back. That's where he has been playing in the VFL, therefore that's where his future is.
Rance I think seems more suited to being a run-with midfielder in the future.
Post is too slow, regressed from last year.

Post has been disappointing this year, and I am not sure if he is the solution for us.

I thought Astbury would be played near the forward line.

I have to admitt i find it a little strange too. OK McGuane was probably worth a try.. he takes a solid mark and is a good set shot at goal, but Thursty in the forward line just doesnt make too much sense to me at all with him being predominately a spoiling defender.

I would rather see Astbury, Vickery, Rance or Post given more games in the forward line than shuffling backline players forward.

edit: unless you want to use the "tanking" word...

Yea, don't know why Astbury isn't being played up forward more often, he has shown he can take a contested mark and convert.

Forwardline was where we lost the game today. I lost count very early on of how many times we'd get possession of the ball, handle it well until half-forward, then send a ball about 150 metres in the air and 20 metres forward into out forwardline. Yeah, sure, everybody loves it when Jack takes a great mark and boots the goal but the percentages just aren't to hit and hope like that.

Melbourne were much, much more efficient and accurate with their ball use in their forward 50 - we could and should have won that game, we played well enough to elsewhere, just let down by the forwards and the kicks into the forwards - Dean Bailey said as much at three quarter time!

Riewoldt needs support. He's kicked 8 goals in the last 4 weeks - not terrible, but not brilliant either, and defenders have worked him out. We need another target. It's times like these that I wonder why we let Jay Schulz go, or didn't hang on to Nathan Brown for a bit longer, or beg and plead with Richo.....yeah I know, look forward, not back and all that, but you've got to kick goals to win matches - we had plenty of opportunities to do that today and didn't take them.

Cousins good again, not sure what he's got to do to earn a renewed contract. Morton good. Browne and Graham decent. Matt White OK. Was impressed with young Robbie Hicks. Everybody else was just average or below really....

You'd hope that after today with the failed efforts of McGuane and Thursfield up forward that this will force Dimma's hand. I think he prob wanted to see what versatility they had in them to evaluate our tall backs going forward.

Agreed, Dimma would have seen McG & Thursty struggle up forward today and at least one of them won't be part of his plans next year.

My money is on McGuane to be traded - has bit more currency I think. Most think he'd go to GC but strikes me as some chance to go to Dons who are very light ion for KPDs
