This is my first public mock. Criticism is welcome, if it helps me make a more informed mock draft

First Round

R1 P1-St. Kilda-Christian Petracca-An Explosive Mid and Damaging Forward from the Eastern Ranges, Weighing in at 92 kilos he is ready to go. If he was to become a full time mid like Dustin Martin He would have to build his tank.I see him becoming a very dominate midfielder not dissimilar to Josh P Kennedy but can push forward in the way Dustin Martin does.

R1 P2-Melbourne-Angus Brayshaw-Elite ball user from the Sandringham Dragons. He is a Stoppage specialist averaging 22 disposals and 3 clearances during the u18 draft. He is highly regarded by Melbourne as a Elite Midfielder of the future with his size and shape in the mold for the modern game. I see him becoming A taller Sam Mitchell with less kicking penetration. Would be surprised if he went past pick 3.

R1 P3-Melbourne-Patrick McCartin-Dangerous Key Forward was once tipped as the #1 pick now has moved down due to the needs of the clubs with later picks. McCartin is the best pure Key Forward in the draft who can dominate games and bully defenders in the goal square. Is best utilized on a lead with his mark tally amongst the best for his age at 8 marks a game. I think he will turn out to be a less dominant Nick Reiwoldt in the way he leads and pushes up the ground.

R1 P4-GWS-Jayden Laverde-Damanging utility with the best evasive skills in the draft. He reminds me of what Pendlebury was in his draft year as a flanker/wingman who has immense amounts of x-factor. He is in a pretty good senario to develop probably going in and out of the senior side like bontempelli. Worst case senario for laverde is that he becomes a player like Will Hoskin-Eliott as that athletic forward who doesn't gather big numbers.

R1 P5-Collingwood-Jordan De Goey-He is another of the versatile types from this draft. Can go forward, back and in midfield and does significant damage at each position. Told he was a soft footballer as a 16 year old and now has become a unique player with his mix of inside, outside and forward of centre ability which few players can boast. He has the second best overhead marking ability at his position and has a body type perfect for a utility. He reminds me of Jimmy Bartel as that layer that does damage at any position he plays.

R1 P6-GWS-Jake Lever-Rebounding, Incept Marks and Stopping Goals he does these all. Missed 2014 because of an ACL injury, but has be recognised for his aggresive attack on his rehab. His stats from 2013 in the TAC cup we absolutely amazing for his position. Many people think he could become a pinch hitting midfielder but i think his best chance of getting up the field in on a half-back flank. His leadership is another strong suit of the tall defender captaining the Vic Metro squad in 2013 as a bottom ager. I see him playing that Alex Rance type roll as a player who can do it all as a key defender but also that Luke Hodge if he becomes a Back-flanker with his leadership qualities.

R1 P7-GWS-Hugh Goddard-Athletic KPP utility who has great kicking for his size. Great key defender

R1 P8-Collingwood-Darcy Moore-Versatile tall-Less Versatile Jarryd Roughhead

R1 P9-Adelaide-Jarrod Pickett-Line breaking wingman-Faster Lewis Jetta, less skilful Version

R1 P10-West Coast-Paul Ahern-Speedy Half forward/Wing-Taller Devon Smith

R1 P11-Richmond-Lachie Weller-Smart Inside Mid/Wing/Half Back-More Skilled Shaun Burgoyne

R1 P12-Fremantle-Caleb Marchbank-Intelligent Key Defender-Scott Thompson (NM) with better Intercept ability

R1 P13-Geelong-Jordan De Geoy-Unique Inside Mid/Wing-A more Balanced Jimmy Bartel

R1 P14-Gold Coast-Liam Duggan-Skilful Half back/Wing-Steele Sidebottom with more outside ability

R1 P15-North Melbourne-Connor Menadue-Wing/Half forward-Ryan Griffin with more Forward Talent

R1 P16-Port Adelaide-Hugh Goddard-Athletic Key Defender/Key Forward-More Athletic Michael Hurley

R1 P17-Sydney Swans-Isaac Heeney-Balanced Midfielder-More skilled Jobe Watson

R1 P18-Hawthorn-Connor Blackley-Strong Bodied inside Midfielder-Jordan Lewis with better extracting skills

R1 P19-Essendon-Peter Bampton-extracting inside Mid-Less skilled Josh Kennedy (Syd)

R1 P20-GWS-Tom Lamb-Athletic Wing/Half forward-Less inside Minded Nat Fyfe

Isn't the concern about Weller that he's uber scrawny? That's not really comparable to Buygoyne who has terrific upper body strength.

I think your descriptions are beyond ridiculous.

Love the more defending ability Jake carlile. Do people forget he was in AA form as a defender last year lol. I hate comparisons period.

Nearly every under 18 is going to be skinnier than the afl comparison.

Reminds me of Pitt (the guy Freo drafted who retired)...these skinny blokes...for every Nat Fyfe there are 3000 duds.

I mean I'd be happy if WC took Weller with our first round pick but I don't think Burgoyne is the appropriate comparison. If a comparison had to be done then the consensus seems to be a faster Aish who doesn't average as many touches.

Surely WC's targets are going to involve some players with line breaking speed. You would be hoping and I doubt he won't be there that Leverede is on the table.

Well any of Weller, Pickett or Ahern seem to have genuine speed.
Each with their own set of weaknesses.
We've been linked to Pickett but I suspect that is just because he is a WA boy.
Though we do have a tendency to draft conservatively.

Lachie Weller is the one I would want, but he is the risky one. That said he could be absolutely anything!

Unless you are talking about Petracca who is not dissimilar to Burgoyne when they both play midfield.

Can see that comparison but not the one in this phantom lol. That said I just really hate comparisons!

Usually the default is Pendlebury, right?
"stops time like Pendlebury", "silky mover like Pendlebury", "elite disposal efficiency in traffic like Pendlebury".
At least the comparisons above aren't to Pendlebury.

Does Danyle Pearce with better game sense mean a Danyle Pearce who doesn't do allot of stupid things?

I'd love that.

Pendles, Dangerfield, etc they are usually the favourite two lol! They might have some traits, but being quick does not equal being the next Judd or Dangerfield!
