I heard that via a friend(rumour mill at work) but NO evidence other than 3rd party. Perhaps anyone who has been around the club could help...

Either way its not surprising nor does it really affect anything. Coaching staff would have long given up planning for Gumby in the For Line..

all going a bit early on this:?....

& just imagine him roaming around 1/2 fwd at the moment before binning him

^^^^^

Did we ever learn to play with him?

What has he played, 25 games? Regardless I think most of the team has gone past him.

A shame for Gumby but he would struggle to get a game anyway with Bellchambers clearly our most dominant big man at this stage and Hille and Ryder too good to leave out.

?

Ugh! I feel really bad for the guy he obviously has a tonne of talent and loves it at the club. Do you think this is just poor genetics?
He has obviously been great with all the kids coming to the club, Joe Daniher said Gumbleton was a pretty big factor as to why he is coming to Essendon as opposed to Sydney.

You are sadly mistaken if you believe there is not a spot for Gumby in this current side & I am sure its a selection dilemma Hird would rather have to deal with than not

Those of us that have watched him have seen the potential & would love him in the side

I'm convinced we no longer need him anyway. Team has learnt to play without him.

I am absolutely gobsmacked that people on here have written this guy off.. He's still very young and showed enormous talent in the games he has played IMO. He has only played 20 odd games and will be the lead up CHF we desperately need. (I'd much rather Hurley play deeper, where he is more effective). He has a huge tank and IMO is as close a clone to Nick Reiwoldt that I've seen and that can't be a bad thing can it? I think when fit, he's definitely in our best 22.

Also off topic (as I can't start threads yet) who do people think will get promoted off the rookie list. I read the article on the HUN (i think) website that Crameri will be re-elevated for Winderlich (or Dempsey, doesnt matter) because Anthony Long will be right in a couple of weeks, so who gets elevated in the last spot? Personally I would like to see Silverlock get an opportunity. Thoughts??

I want Neagle at full forward. Is a gun and his goals v game ratio is very high. Great mark and good kick. Will not happen though.

Yeah I am one of the few that like Neagle as well and think he is a natural Full Forward, I haven't watched his progress (if any) at Bendigo but feel that if he knuckles down could be an added dimension to our team. But playing him in Defense is not helping anything (except maybe his fitness) and unfortunately he seems to be a long long way back n the pecking order...

Yep, I agree.

Can someone please clarify?

I assumed Gumby wouldbe back in the VFL this week after the previous 3 week lay-off for the strain. Has he now re-injured it at training whilst attempting to get back to playing?

i thought neagle was pretty unlucky to be crucified last year.
didnt do too bad in that geelong game and made a silly mistake.

He is a big body with a good mark.
We are getting heavy on the talls though
Belly, Ryder, Hille, Gumby, Neagle, Hurley, Crameri, Hooker, Pears, Fletch, Myers, Danniher (and another next year).

Think that Gumbleton is contracted to the end of 2012.

Think that if Gumby is still injured through 2012 that both sides will call for a trade.

Probably to the West.

No confirmation, but this seems to be the rumour.

People are quick to give us crap about taking Gumby at pick 2, but the people in the know say he was clearly amongst the best handful of kids in the land at draft time, and he did not have a strong history of injury either. Nobody could have predicted this run of bad luck for the lad.

FWIW I hope he comes good and can play a valuable role in our forward half. Unfortunately it seems further away with every injury I read him copping.

A club should never cop flack because one of their draftees broke down with injury.

That's silly.

Unless said draftee had a history of it throughout his junior career. That's when you are running the gauntlet. Not saying Gumby did btw as I wouldn't know.
