Haddin

Most frustrating thing with them carrying haddin is that even at his best he's not a great player.

Solid bat at his best but still a very ordinary keeper, makes no sense to carry an out of from 34 year old when the pay off when they get back into form isn't even worth it.

Haddin's Test career has been good, but it's certainly not now- same with Ponting. The selectors need to stop living in the past and (I know it's been said, but) players have to picked on form, not reputation.

Won't happen. Cricket more than any other sport holds on to players way past their use-by date. And given the money on offer no player will ever walk away voluntarily. It's also the ultimate boys' club in sport, if you're mates with the selectors and/or the Captain, you'll never be sacked. It's been a constant theme in cricket for at least the last 100 years.

I was thinking his shot couldn't have been that bad. I was wrong.

Ponting is too stubborn to change his game, he needs to go. The NZ tests should be seen as the perfect chance to allow someone like Khawaja or Ferguson to settle into Test cricket rather than give somebody who has hung around for too long a farewell.

I've only been saying it for the past year :o Get rid of him!

He is incredibly lucky Paine isn't fit and playing, otherwise NSW would have their first keeper back.

At 5-150odd, if Wade can make three figures and keep tidily, then he may be fumbling for his passport very soon. I don't care who gets the nod out of Paine and Wade - I'll happily take the best one. I remember a time when Tim Zoehrer and Ian Healy were both injured and the selectors wanted Zoehrer, but Healy worked harder and came up with better results in a short time. The rest, as they say in the classics...

Lets go Matty Wade, firmly believe he is a far better option then Paine anyway, need only compare first class records, one is over rated, the other under rated...

This is the best thing that has happened to Australia in 3 years.

We can now construct a team for the future and build towards the ultimate success again.

Hughes must go. I like him but he has serious flaws. Open with Marsh or Hussey or have some balls and bring in Maddison. If we do the former bring in Khawaja.

Drop Ponting for anyone. I actually don't think there is anyone with the exception of Usman that deserves a cap.

Haddin must go. Wade has been scoring runs in the Sheffield Shield so it should be simple.

Siddle and Johnson are under pressure. We have quality bowlers lining up at domestic level.

Didn't Hughes make a century last test? Why are we suddenly dropping him? FFS we whinge about wanting the selectors to make sensible decisions, then suggest dropping a young kid after he's failed on a minefield of a pitch the test after making a ton.

Madness.

I'm in favour of dropping players in the order they deserve to be dropped, then re-evaluate. I believe Ponting should be first to go. His presence in the team these days is of little value. I'd rather get games into Koala. Next is Haddin. He is not a particularly smart or gifted player. I'd leave the changes at just that. Can't go dropping everyone.

He has to go now, send Wade over there for next test

Bugger waiting for the next Test. Drop him now. Don't even let him keep tonight. Give the gloves to someone else, bring on a sub to field and put him on the first plane home.

One of the softest players to ever wear the Baggy Green.

Haddin will play the next test becuase we don't have back up, however he should be dumped and Paine picked for the GABBA test if fit.

I would agree with both statements.

If they keep Haddin beyond this series, the new selectors are just continuing the tradition of the previous selectors. They were dropped for a good reason........

haha. You guys are getting a bit wound up aren't you?

Anyone else see the funny side of Haddin charging down the wicket? I can't help but admire him and think what was going through his head. I love those type of players, that look to counter attack.

Ugly looking shot, but his one of those guys you can't help but love because of the careless way he plays his cricket. Commits himself and follows through, that is all you can ask.

Disagree.

All you can ask for is a batsman who understands the conditions and the context of the match, and bats sensibly within those conditions and within the match's context.

There might be times where Haddin has licence to try to go the tonk, ie. Australia is trying to set a target and needs 120 overs to bowl out the opposition, but FFS, there were days left in the game and wickets were falling all round him.

What Australia needed out of Haddin, and the rest of the top six (bar Marsh, who was clearly hobbled by his injury) was some judicious stroke-making matched up with some defence, topped off by some common sense.

It's obviously too much to ask of this group of players, though.

If only Paine was fit..... I think the selectors will be reluctant to make the change until Paine is fit and played a game or 2..

Which is a joke. Wade is in form and available to be selected to replace Haddin.

There should be no more "now it's your turn to play for Australia", as it's clearly not working. Pick the XI based on talent and form, and go from there. Paine's injured, but Wade has the runs under the belt. He should be looking for his passport right now.

I agree but Cricket Australia has made it quite clear that Paine is the man they want so I doubt they would chuck Wade in. Wade is deserving and I think should be next in line.

All I am saying is to look on the bright side. Haddin played an awful shot, granted, but can you not laugh at it?

FWIW, you can understand his thought process of looking to counter - outrageous it may seem - but you can at least see what he was trying to do. But then to fail so outrageously is just, I don't know.

I just dont take the game as serious as some people.

There's your error in logic.

Haddin doesn't think.

The only trouble is they might get agood batting pitch next test and he will make a score so they will give him more time:thumbsd:
