Re: Barry Hall has cracked!

Nice of you to pick out a little snippet of my post and attack me for it when the whole quote shows I was being pretty fair.

They did come down and start pushing and shoving again, I am sure trying to see if they could get Barry fired up again, and the umps told them to cool it and find the footy.

It's easy to find fault with something when you only use half the facts.

If thats what you intended my apologies, but it really doesnt come off that way

Thompson is great, this sort of behavior is the sort of mental hip and shoulder that is his specialty. He certainly had the knack of being able to press the right buttons of his opponent when he was in the Geelong VFL team and North would be mad to try and stop that. Still quite annoyed that North picked him up in the draft before we were going to select him.

Finally happened in the Kangas game. Was doing up his shoelaces on the floor when his kangaroo opponent went and pushed him over. Hall proceeded to get up and grab him in a headlock and ram him into the ground. Was subsiquently dragged after a few more scuffles.

Can someone update me on the history between these two players? Why was this an anticipated match-up?

Halls finished, can't wait till the really tough guys like Fletcher and Scarlett are let loose on him, won't last five minutes more in the hurley burely of AFL.

North would have been much better off concentrating on playing footy, and less on trying to snipe Bulldogs players. While North were trying to start fights the Bulldogs were handing out a flogging. At worst Hall will cop a fine and a heap of media w@nkers will wet themselves with their overhyped headlines. Don't see Thompsons or Halls actions as particularly 'thuggish' (there were some other North activities that were decidedly unsporting though), but they were pretty stupid. In the end, the Bulldogs handled it much better than North did.

So was Thompson goading Hall to put him off his game and thus assist the Roos in winning the game or was he just goading him into a report/suspension?

Given the scoreline I would assume the latter and that is pi55 poor.

The snippet on the news had Hall being dragged to ground by 3 opponents.

Yep, that's legal. Shame on him for firing up.

You muppet. They were trying to drag him off Thompson, didn't notice the guy wrapped tightly in a headlock? Granted Thompson probably deserved a bit of push and shove back, but nothing drastic.

I think the question needs to be asked as to where the Bulldogs supporters were helping out Hall?

Geez for a minute there I thought you were being serious.

Re: Barry Hall has cracked!

Hear Hear. He did nothing wrong, and if he belted any of the players attacking him, I would see nothing wrong with it. Imagine if you are out on a Saturday night, you are attacked by three men, and you get charged for assault for belting one of the attackers.
He had 3 or 4 guys come up to him when he was heading off to the bench, all having a go. And was surrounded by half the roos team at one stage.

Should be a rule - if it's 3 on 1 you can swing...

He did well. Showed he's not going to take their crap but didn't snap. Good work.

I think the question needs to be asked again - only this time in english.

Or have I deciphered it correctly and you're advocating an invasion of the arena? I would have been keen but I was up the back of the third tier and forgot to pack my hang-glider.

Come off it. Sniping? Thompson gave Hall a bit of stick and that was about it.

Just because Eade is having a whinge doesn't make it so. I particularly enjoyed Firrito executing a classic shirtfront - and within the rules. I didn't enjoy Eade throwing around accusations because a few of his boys had cuts, especially considering one of those was in a simple head clash.

Hopefully in the stands or watching on TV...

Cool. Fair chance they'll be able to help out Barry next week then.

Not worth the fine TBH. ;)

Seriously though, the fact that Hall was the only Dogs player in the 50, from memory, would have a bit to do with it. Lake and a few others got involved when it moved to the wing, what was the result? Another 50m penalty. We were 10 goals to their zip and had nothing to gain from getting involved, I'm sure Barry won't be worrying about his teammates 'not supporting him', they wanted to make sure we remained settled and didn't let North get a run on after their disgraceful antics. Shows professionalism and evidence of a team more interested in football than cheap shots, in my opinion.

If he gets 5 weeks I'll be angry, but if he has to cop it, he has to cop it. It was always risky carrying over 95ish points, any offence and he'd be gone...but I wish he'd get some sort of protection from the umpires. I'm not looking for special treatment, but just a bit of common sense.

Gotta love Scotty Thompson.

Next week McMahon is going to get on all fours behind Pav and Scotty is going to give him a slight nudge.

He is a great man. That shit makes footy fun.

Re: Barry Hall has cracked!

Leading to your first goal of the game - five minutes out from half-time.

Thanks for reminding us all about that little piece of charity.

Gee, you really got me there. That 70 point flogging has nothing on your sharp bigfooty posting. :thumbsu:

TV says with his carry over points, and 50% load he's looking at 4-5 weeks

So yes, he needed some help

ha ha - serious?

He didn't make contact with anyone did he?

I will be jealous when you add another preliminary finalist cup to your trpohy cabinet in 2010.

Actually, no I wont.

If you want me to give you a run down on the excitement of experiencing Grand Final week, let me know.

At the start of the season I said Thompson would be the one to make Barry snap. He niggled every week when he played in our 2's, and he tries to suck Mooney in every time we play North. Barry's gaaawn.

Are the disgraceful antics we are talking about just the push while Barry was trying to tie up his shoe, or did I miss something?

He didn't make contact with anyone did he?

Had the guy in a headlock and was originally charged with wrestling, but now reduced to 'rough conduct'

Ralph from Herald Sun said he has 96 carry over points, and a 50% load on any charge he gets. With the charge of rough conduct I think he said something like 450 points as a starting point

Can't believe the Dogs weren't in there helping Barry out of that situation
