Sad to see him go, but it was the right decision, after 3 realy bad years due to injury it was unlikely that he'd ever get back and if he did he probably wouldn't have had his old impact.

I just want to say that Aaron Hamill's duels with Chris Scott were some of the best, and most explosive of the last decade.

Will always remember those two going at it like prize bulls with steam coming out of their ears, blood was shed, teeth were lost. Yet they'd always give each other a hearty handshake after the game.

Sad that neither of these two gladiators will step onto the field of battle in 2008 and beyond. Players of their type are a dying breed in the modern game.

The beauty about Hamill and Scott, which supporters of other clubs don't realise is that their teammates benefitted so much from having them around. They took so much more of the phusical burden so that other players could play with more freedom, hence increase their output. Opposition supporters only see them as having less than 10 possession and being overrated.

I'm a shattered man. Sadly I knew it was going to happen, but I wish it didn't have to. Hamill typified everything I loved about the AFL, his attack on the footy and his defensive pressure is something we have sorely missed over the past few years. I also enjoyed having Hamill because it allowed the Sainters to get one back on Carlton. I always remember the Carlton supporters telling me that no one leaves Carlton....well look at you now!!!

This also means I'll need a new number on my jumper...I can tell you now it won't be #3 or #16!!!!!! All the best Aaron, we had many more memories to share.

Agree 100% with that sackers - loved the duels with Chris......sadly its been extinct due to overzealous umpiring and the need for the game to be sanitised

As a Carlton Supporter I was gutted the Hamill left the blues the way he did, he was was one of my favorite player, tough and uncompromising. I still enjoyed seeing him run around ion the black, white and red ( i go to alot of saints games with my missus).
It a shame that he was not able to fufil his full potential at the saints due to injury, I think the saints tried to rush him back a few time, which may have cost him in the long run.

p.s. the saints did pay him waaaay more than he was worth.

He played it hard and it was inevitable his body wouldn't take the sort of punishment he dished out to it for very long.

Tough player and exciting to watch when at his best.
