He's a gun. Obviously when Scarlo hangs up the boots it'll be a huge loss and with Harley gone and Dash probably in his last year it's just so important that we've been able to find such a gun defender to slot into the defence and mitigate those loses in the backline.

His job on Roo in the grand final is one of the reasons we are 2009 premiers.

Well done H. It's a rare breed of player that can serve up such an impressive first 50 games.

Was reading The Mission 2 earlier, and apparently Wells and co. were keen on picking up Scott Selwood with our first pick that year, but decided that KPP's are less common than on-ballers, so decided to pick up Harry instead. :thumbsu:

Wells only spoke briefly to Taylor at the WA state screening too, as he didn't want anyone else to know we were interested in him. Brilliant stuff by Wells, and we're reaping the rewards. Who knows? With the Hawks' backline like it is, and their well documented desire to draft left footers, if we didn't swoop on him when we did, he might be playing for the mob from Waverley. Thank goodness that didn't happen!

Cause Melbourne and West Coast were clamouring to grab Harry as well; they promised to take him if available as well late in the first round....too bad suckas!!!

For further evidence of Harry's original and thoughtful approach to football, I would recommend listening to the interview with him that was on 774 radio last weekend, available here: http://www.abc.net.au/sport/afl/audio/

Amongst other things he talks about how he's analysed NFL tapes of cornerbacks, who have a somewhat similar role to CHBs, to pick up some little tricks that he's added to hiw own game.

I have to say that Harry is definitely Geelong's thinking-woman's crumpet!

Thanks for that link. It was a classic interview, and he really is modern football's version of a warrior-scholar of classical times. Came across as highly articulate, open & honest as well.

What a phenomenal piece of recruiting it took to land him.

Edit: BTW: Sam Lane's article mentioned in that interview can be found at http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/top-of-the-charts-20100623-yz34.html .
