Another impressive performance on Saturday night who is rapidly becoming a "rock" in Geelong's already impressive defence. Now if we could only get the forward set-up right....

I love his attack and the way he went about things in general on Saturday night.

  • DEFENDER Harry Taylor says winning the NAB Cup would send a clear message to the AFL: beware Geelong.
Taylor was a standout in Saturday night's 17-point win against Carlton at Docklands and his drive to improve reflects the team's attitude.
"Everyone's very determined," Taylor said.

"We put last year behind us now, we're moving on, but I think everyone's very determined to prove that we're a great football side.

"And prove to each other more so than anyone else that we can play football.

"There's nothing better than playing well and doing something basic, just a spoil or a tackle to show your mates that you're determined and you want to help the team as much as you can."

Taylor said the Cats were ready for Friday night's NAB Cup grand final against Collingwood at Docklands.
"It doesn't matter what level it is or the nature of the circumstances, it's a grand final. Collingwood is up and about and playing some great football," he said.

"I played on Cam Cloke and his brother Travis would be a match-up that I might be able to have a look at.

"Otherwise there's another guy, John Anthony, who's been leading up quite well. They've used Ben Reid as well, so there are a few taller options. It's going to be a great game to play in."
After playing 21 games last season, Taylor said his aim was to consolidate a spot across half-back.

The 22-year-old is keen to stand up in the absence of injured captain Tom Harley.
"I set myself some pretty high standards this year to try and reach," Taylor said.

"Coming in last year I didn't have too many expectations on myself, but this year I've raised the bar and that's what you have to do if you're going to become a better player.

"The whole pre-season everyone's tried to lift themselves in terms of leadership and direction. So it wasn't just me as an individual, I think it was the whole back six."

I have a man crush on Harry <3

The guy has the best group of senior AFL guys to learn from so he should be improving. I see a bit of Tom harley in him so I wonder if Harley has been giving him some coaching?

imagine if, Scarlett, Harley, Egan and Taylor were all fit at once. Even though the other 3 are all All-Australians, you couldn't leave out Harry, could ya?

If the other three were all fit, I'd put Harry on a wing or HFF. Would be bloody hard to match up on, and with his raking left foot kicks, could be a very good zone buster. :thumbsu:

the team sure misses matthew egan

mind you, his foot is equivalent to someone who has been shot
Well yeah we kinda do but we were pretty good last year, and he wouldn't have won the flag for us last year.

Harry has done a better job than anyone could have imagined in filling in, so the loss has been tempered somewhat.

from an outsiders piont of view i must admit all last year i though he was just one of your passengers... but his form this pre-season has been outstanding, expcially with a few of your other high profile backs missing.

abit early to predict a all australian possie i would have thought but signs are good..

def coming into the dt :D

harry has been a great pick up,to think he was probably only drafted because that matty egan was cut down with his foot injury but he has been good and really stepped thou the pre season and looking like he will have a good year l wouldn't say AA but all is looking good

First up; is Egan shot this year? Is there any chance of a comeback...any updates? Still heard he is in the moon boot!

Second; just how good would a backline be containing both Taylor and Egan! Rips my heart out every time!

Third; Harry is an absolute gem, looks so composed and has a great left boot. Could be the kick in specialist with Hunt gone now. Hopefully he can take the next step and really put it on the power forwards. Would love to see him get some game time on Franklin in rnd 1. Think he is up to it.
