Heard on the radio that he has. But not sure if this is true as there has been no announcement on your website.

Hmmm. If this is true then it's one heck of a surprise. Here we are talking about how there's never anything said about him and he suddenly gets promoted?

I find it hard to believe he would get promoted right now, it's not like there's been a serious injury lately so what other reason is there for it? I'll wait for official conformation before I start getting excited because trust me, I would be so pumped if this is true and no one would be more delighted than I. ;)

Ironically, it's a really BAD time for him to get promoted. As Macca19 pointed out, he's set to play in the State of Origin game this week and would become ineligible if/when he does get promoted.

It would be a bit of a surprise if he were promoted at this stage. The only LTI player we have is Burton, who is expected to resume playing (presumably via the SANFL) in about 3-4 weeks.

If he were promoted though, it would send a pleasing reminder to some of our under-performing midfielders that they need to pull their thumbs out or they will find themselves in the SANFL forthwith.

Absolutely :thumbsu:

Midfield stocks in the SANFL are low and very inexperienced. Schmidt hasn't played many AFL games but he has been in the AFL system for a fair while now (well, longer than Cook, Armstrong etc), would be advantageous to have him available for selection.

If Burton does resume in say four weeks time in the SANFL, we'd probably look at giving him at least two or three games to work his way into it. That's seven weeks, one short of the eight minimum for long term injury list eligibility. I dare say it's worth elevating him right now.

ummmmmm no.

We dont have a spot open due to no one on the long term injury list (unless someone got injured at training today)

and it's not rd 11 yet, so we cant promote any rookie without anyone injured.

A couple of points here:
  • 4 weeks injured + 3 weeks SANFL = 4 weeks of injury time, not 7 of 8 weeks required for the LTI list. If you're playing SANFL footy, you can't be on the LTI list as you're no longer injured.
  • I'm not 100% sure about this, but isn't the Birdman already officially on the LTI list?

Lastly, players must miss a minimum of 8 weeks to qualify for the LTI list. Is there any minimum period for which a rookie must be elevated to the main list? Seems awfully rude that a player can be elevated one week, only to have the LTI listed player return the following week - forcing them back to the rookie list in the process.

Oh I don't really care what time Drumm or anybody else has on their PC. :)

It's just that if youre going to refer to posts by their posting time it makes it difficult for people to find them if the poster has the incorrect time.

yeah fair point. I started that post just to prove you both wrong. Then I tried to turn it into. Different people have different times (once I figured out my time was wrong)

My computer, for whatever reason, says 17:34.

Such intrigue! :p

So does mine. What time zone is your computer set to? Mine is set to Eastern Standard Time, as I live in Canberra. You might want to reset yours to Central Standard Time!
