Only a mistake if you weren't trying to increase his experience. I play my goalkeeper in most matches, often even friendlies. Cup matches count for double experience compared to league matches.

When my first choice is a brilliant keeper, and my back up is only a passable, believe me, it's not worth the risk ;)

My keeper is world class and his backup is solid. I take the risk all the time. Can always hire 30-40 doctors for a week or two and get him fit again.

The loss of defending skill between a brilliant and passable isn't much for a week or two unless you are in a top division. At Div 5 and lower pretty much all you need is playmaking to win games.

Fair enough, but I wont be playing my first choice keeper in the cup anymore until abour Rnd 3 or 4. Sorry if I've missed it Weaver, but what team are you?

Firstly some background on my history with Hattrick.

I previosuly managed a taem that were comfotably in Division V and pushing towards IV.

I subsequetly lost this team (due to inactivity) and hence restarted.

I rarely checked my email nad realised only recently that the admin were close to deleted my team again due to inactivity. I have saved this team, and am started to build my way back towards Division V (in a VI league full of bots.) I am contemplating "match fixing" in order to stay in this league (to gain financial security and to build a team strong enough to compete in the 5th Division.

I have noticed that a majority of trainers train Playmaking from the beginning.

For those beginning to play the game - I have cash making theory.

I have recently brought some players to strenghten my all round team. (I have done this basically to ensure I win the division comfortably.)

Along with these outfield players I purchased two 20y.o. solid goalkeepers. I have decided to train goalkeeping (yes thats correct, goalkeeping). The reason behind this is the large increase in transfer price per level increase in goalkeeping ability. I was able to purchase these goal keepers for $50,000. Yet when they increase to Outstanding, bids around the $5milion mark are not uncommon.

Now this plan may take a while to come to fruition, but considering I have a cash balance of $8,000 and an away league match this weekend (ensuring I wil go into debt), I consider this another way of gaining quick funds if you are willing to be patient and think outside the square!

Thoughts??

The transfer market is indeed weird...im looking like recieving 524 000 AU$ for a 33yr old winger (15041766) with a TSI of 120  . Still an hour of bidding to go...

I'm guessing it would have something to do with his excellent experience and passable leadership skills. I always forget, but one of these skills converts into a coach.

The high price is because of the experience/leadership combination. Basically the team that buys him will keep him for a year and then convert him into a coach.

Making a guy with excellent experience into a solid coach costs about $1.2m (plus purchase price). It goes down to about $1m if he can pop the experience up to formidable.

Creating a solid/passable coach from scratch costs $1.5m.

So buying your guy for about $400-500k can actually make sense. You get a coach in 12 months for the same cost.

Goalkeeping is a good way to make cash. Problem is that you are training only 2 players whereas a playmaking trainer is training 10. So you will make a lot more per player, but maybe not heaps more overall.

Make sure you have 9 goalkeeping coaches and 1 outfield coach.

Go to this site. Click on player > keepers-up.

This lets you know the sub-level of goalkeepers. The best way to make keeper profits is to look to buy guys who are only a week or two from popping up a level. You will be able to calculate whether your guys need 1-10 weeks to pop a level. When you are looking at buying players you will be able to make better purchases.

I started my team a while ago, but forgot about the game....
Hence I got relegated into a division with all bots.

Maybe we should play friendlies amongst each other! Although i'm only a VI team (and a fairly crappy one at that, but it will improve as I have previously played the game and have some idea as to improve)

My ID is 37301

No Probs just gotta wait til i get booted ot of the cup this week my guess is a 9-0 thrashing as i have never gone past the 2nd round in the cup

I've found you (League and ID etc.) I will challenge you as soon as friendlies are over if you get beaten in the cup round today.

Good Luck and press hard!

Won my cup game 9-0 and purchased a half-decent wing trainee for a ridiculously overpriced $1.8m thanks to some plucky bidder in the basement.

What stats?

I just paid an even 2 mil for an outstanding inner mid with head speciality (which is apparently pretty good for inner mids) with passable scoring but poor passing. Ah the life in division VI

Kayde Lochhead
TSI = 880 , 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: weak
Scoring: wretched Set pieces: poor

He's Oceanian (my new law - that 20% is a killer when they start to blossom) and has half decent secondaries which I may or may not exploit later on.

I'm still training wing, so this one should be a real peach in five seasons.

Damn straight. I think I'm going to have to sell my 3 Inners because of wages that I have trained for 6-7 seasons. I've worked so hard with them and the extra 20% wages on each is killing me. It'll be a sad day when I let them go...

It's just dire isn't it?

Selling Topola was a real heartbreaker - I reckon I got something like $6.4m for him in the end after the original club, previous club and 'agent' fees came off. Considering I bought him for $6m as a first or second week 17yo excellent w/ secondaries you wonder what it was all for.

But, there are positives. As part of the forced rebuild I've been able to boost my midfield with two new boys, buy two new wing trainees and I've added a rock into the heart of defence - all Oceanian too. I had to be super patient to do it (passing up cheaper foreign players in the process) but it'll be worth it in the long run.

If you're canny you'll be killing it in a couple of seasons Sammy. :thumbsu:

i've just signed up, still sussing this thing out... very different from what im use to.

I joined the supporter club last night.

I may be biased but if there's a better team logo than that of FC Crouchzinho I'm yet to see it. ;)

Hey Sainter, I'm in Hattrick too.

I have a team, Sainters, in div IV.8
I only just promoted for the first time (been playing since season 10) and by the looks of things will go straight back down to div V (oh well).

It is addictive isn't it? I check out training every week to see who's popped and changes in form etc.

I have a long term training strategy which will eventually keep me in Div IV long enough to be competitive.
