Hey Ed, just want clarification.

"In time for switching to scoring" - do you mean training this player in scoring after he turns brilliant by the end of next season?

Because unless there's been a tactical rule change I've missed, scoring has no bearing whatsoever for midfielders and wingers, unless of course you're aiming to turn him into a (strange) niche forward-towards wing?

Otherwise training him in both skills would be a waste of time.

Yeah, the plan was to train him up in his wing skill then his scoring. I always thought it could prove to be beneficial as he would contribute a fair bit to wing attack by playing him as a FTW. Just a bit of variation.

This market crash is ridiculous.

Has cost me about $20mil and completely ruined my plans for Oceanian domination.

I was half expecting a correction, but to have mythical playmakers that you've trained for years selling for less than $3mil ... FMD.

Will the price fall be reflected in the 17 year olds early next season? If the market stays like this long term, realistically they should be worth a fraction of what they used to go for. But if the price for quality trainees is still $1-$2mil, the whole excercise with training higher-end players would almost be pointless. It'll be interesting to see how the market settles.

The problem is wages. Basically after (say World Class) there is very little to be gained (transfer market wise) in training.

I have two English strikers (so dealing with pounds)

One is a 24-yo World Class with solid passing - wage 7,760
One is a 25-yo Mythical with inadequate passing - wage 53,133

Those 4 levels of difference cost me 47,000 pounds a week. The exponential wage increases basically drive down the fees paid for players.

Basically divine+++ players are free to anyone who wants to pay thier wages because no one can afford to.

There are a lot of clubs trying to sell players to get rid of their wages.

He cost me 3 million, he has levelled twice in PM and a couple of secondaries. To find a buyer I will have to sell him for 2m - or less.

I could afford to then replace him with a magical PM - but I couldn't afford the £/130k/week wages.

Lesson for newbies? The selliing-sweetspot might be lower than you think.

I pic'd my cup tie. Had plenty more chances, but only managed a 2-2 scoreline. Ended up winning on penalties though. Huzzah. Has anyone else noticed that shootouts keep going even after they are decided? I was leading by 2 with them having 1 shot to go, me with 2, and we kept going. Had me worried for a second that i hadn't actually won yet. Anyway, they scored their's and i missed both of mine and i still won.

I'm out of debt after selling a couple of trainees but I need to replace them now. After the cup game today, the league game on sunday and the cup game next week things are going to look a lot healthier.
