I was at that game where we were beaten by the most we ever have been at footy park. I am well aware of the circumstances that lead to that defeat. I hope that last weeks loss which is only beaten by the one I mentioned above, in no way mirrors it.

i said in another thread, the similarities to 1994 are frightening

- just came off a narrow heartbreaking prelim loss
- expected to be a big player this year
- a big home loss to a major september player
- lots of players out of form from the previous year

the only thing 94 didn't have that we have this year is the loss of personnel (be it from a judas style departure or a shattering injury to a key player)

that said, hopefully what happened in 95-96 doesn't repeat itself over the next 2 season. i fear it may though..

we'll take that if it is followed by a repeat of 97 & 98

Wasn't 94 the first time Rehn did his knee?

Wasn't 94 the first time Rehn did his knee?
95 and 96...

We could of Finnished bottom without Rehn in cornseys last year.

94 had alot to do with the leadership group, jealousy and indifference to the Tony Modra and state footy..ripped a 3 year old club apart from the inner seams..

TAB were offering odds of $1.01 that Jenny would like the OP. Did anyone put their life savings on it?
i made a cool $13 bucks

kfc hot and spicy - here i come!!

I will support the players through thick and thin, bad seasons and good seasons, I wont however support an incompetent administration that seems to be of the opinion that "Close enough is good enough"

It started with the handling of the Rendell matter and then into Tippett gate.

The amount of money I have spent over the years on this club between the memberships, the merchandise, the cost of flights from Perth to watch us play in Adel, Melbourne, Sydney. Not to mention tickets to games at Subi. And for what return? A couple of 'gallant' prelim losses?

Being a supporter doesn't mean I have to always think the team is "awesome". I prefer reality to delusion and errors of reason. That also means I like to be unemotional when I'm analysing our poor performance, and I agree, half the posts on here are way over the top. It's a scientific fact that mood affects perception; this works both ways which is why after a loss or a win we get extreme posts. I love our footy club but I don't let this get in the way of good reasoning, even though its hard.

At this point in time we are not doing well and there are genuine concerns regarding our performance. We have been very "patchy" and we just got absolutely hammered by Sydney who are a good benchmark. I think we can turn it around but we are a long way off top four form.

This leads on to concerns about our list, which I won't comment too much about until I see our trading at the end of the year. We have some holes in our list, no doubt.

In my view there is genuine reason to be concerned about our administration, and I'm qualified to assess this. The AFC, under the current governance and administration, agreed to a deal that breached the AFL regulations. The CEO was suspended for six months, List Manager two months and the player for 11 games. This was a serious breach and those in error were punished by the regulator for their wrong doing. Consequently we have lost up to six top players (players like Talia and Kerridge). This could absolutely cripple the club.

Subsequently the board do a superfluous review, the Chairman of the board who failed to sack the CEO ends up the Managing Director and another Director ends up the Chief Operating Officer.

The whole administration seems to ignore it's own incompetence, ignore criticism and treat supporters with contempt. It looks like one big circle jerk in there.

Trigg has to go, and the board needs a shake up. This "unanimous" stuff is bullshit, where are the robust discussions and differing opinions that make companies strong? I'd love to be a fly on the wall in a board meeting and see what really happens in there to comment properly but regardless I'll say one thing that Trigg was right about: "mud sticks".

If anyone at the AFC thinks they're irreplaceable and there is no one better in the county to do their job they're delusional, and after that fiasco we should have been searching far and wide.

Great post

Actually, the Bay doesn't need another thread like this. :D

I am sure the thread was started as a light hearted way to clear out the gloom and doom.

3 reasons I am excited about the Crows........ the other stuff we will all fix up in other threads!
1)Dangerfield, Sloane, Talia, Sauce (WILL find form) Walker (Next year).
2)Laird, Jenkins, Crouch, Brown, Lynch, Kerridge
3)The sun will come out tomorrow

I cant imagine why we would start axing administrators after a patch of poor form, especially with such a healthy long-term record. Trigg, for example, offered the board his resignation after the tippett fiasco, and they overwhelmingly voted to refuse it. I think they probably know a lot more than us, and have good reason for wanting to keep him on.
The Crows administrators have made some serious stuff-ups that will hinder this club being competitive - potentially losing us lost flags - for a few years to come. We have effectively lost 6 x 1st/2nd round picks - that is massive!! We will need to do some amazing wheeling & dealing, trading to keep up with the pace-setters ... & we have sent our best recruiter to the Pies!! I feel for Sando & the footy department.

Trigg was incompetent - any normal business would have sacked him. Our board didn't, so I can only assume they were up to their neck in it too. Until there is a cleanout, I have no confidence in the Crows administration.

Having said that, I will continue supporting the Crows, but I will not simply follow the club's propaganda like you have - or do you work for/associated with them?

The meltdowns that occur on this board after such defeats are hilarious. Demands for the coach to be sacked, 6-10 players to be dropped in a week, claims the clubs are a shambles etc etc all give me a solid belly laugh.

Whilst I don't agree with everything the OP has said the general under tone is refreshing. I swear this board is just 80% full of negative nancy's looking for a way to vent. Hardly any decent football discussion goes on here without it eventually turning into a negative dump about the club.

Football is a fickle game and it has a knack of turning around very quickly.

I am a big believer in its always darkest before the dawn so I know our day in the sun is not too far away.

I love my club and do think they are awesome, but also realise they are not without fault. In the end it is only a game for entertainment value. If you are not getting any entertainment out of it then walk away.

thankyou, that's all I was trying to do, be refreshing.

you seem to be the first person to get that I was being outrageously positive in the original post as a stark contrast to the outrageous negativity around the place.

this is one of the more accurate posts I've read on bigfooty, people need to relax and remember what online forums are for.

what grinds my gears is that trigg offered his resignation, but the board refused it. WTF!!??!!

Awesome? A modern meaningless 'plastic' word......but don't lose your enthusiasm.

I meant it in the biblical sense, it's an extremely old word.
