Based on what I saw against the bombers, freo and especially against the Dee's, I think that we have turned a corner...

The club currently has the right balance of youthful exhuberance and experience at the moment and we are starting to push and play hard at the ball... We still make stupid mistakes but they are starting to slowly disappear.

Getting back to finals football is still 2-3 years off, but I reckon that over the next couple of years, if we maintain the intensity of game we had against the dee's we will shock a lot of teams who are looking in envy at our list of up and coming youngsters.

I think that we need to trim off a couple of guys who havent been doing well since coming to the club an bring in maybe a couple of experienced players to fill the holes and get a couple of top class youngsters while we are at it.

I would like for the club to grab aker, but I dont know if he will come to a club which wont be playing finals football for a couple of years... and a couple of years is all he has... but it would be a challange for him and he might respond to it...

Thats my 2c about what I am looking at with our club...

So long as we dont take the same view of the game against Hawthorn that the Demons apparently had against us and which some posters already seem to be taking in light of Saturday's win and Hawthorn's recent form ie that it will be a laydown misere (sic)

We have taken a step towards the corner.... we haven't actually turned yet.

If we can beat Hawthorn, we have taken a few more paces and if we can do something against Richmond/Collingwood/Sydney (not get flogged and possibly win) then we have turned the corner.

We haven't turned the corner yet, we have turned the steering wheel into the corner approaching the apex. The apex will be this years drafting period and through the pre-season. Another pre-season to the likes of Bower, Murphy, Kennedy, Simpson, Russell, Walker, Blackwell, Fisher, Waite, Edwards, Raso and the possible inclusion of either Gibbs or Hansen will improve our club profoundly. Not to mention if we can pick-up a uncontracted player and a fit Saddington.

We're not out of it by a long way, but the wheel is turning!

we still have a long way to go, but don't underestimate how far we have come already. We might not win the rest of the matches this year (though we could) but what's most important is to provide a consistant amount of effort. Once you have the effort covered off, you have a baseline to work with.

no.
it was one win.
and carlton defeated melbourne by a greater margin in round 1.

as a team there is still a very long way to go. but individual performances from young guys starting to carry the load like Bentick, Simpson, Murphy, Walker, Carazzo, Thornton, Waite, Fisher etc. is very encouraging. along with some outstanding games/quarters from Russell and Blackwell

we have been turning the corner all year.

we have reduced the thrashings
we have been competitive for longer in games
we have got ourselves in more winning positions
we are getting a far more even contribution from all players

The thing that is giving me alot of hope is that neither of our 2005 drafted debutants (Murphy, Kennedy) were playing, plus the plethora of young guys yet to debut, such as Hartlett, Bower, Raso, Edwards etc. Probably be a few that don't make it, but some have potential and will be good for us in the future with 30-50 games at AFL level plus mature bodies.

Certainly haven't turned the corner yet, but we are getting closer. We have improved this year, and as bibi01 said, we have been able to reduce the number of thrashings that have been handed out to us.

Would certainly have a good chance against the Hawks on the weekend, and it would be great if we could finish off the season with a winning mentality. Then IF we draft well in November, who knows what could happen next year.
