No, at the start of the 2014 season Hawks were: 1855 games – 872 wins, 948 losses, 10 draws

Total games figure is correct though win/loss record doesn't add up!....Think you used the beginning of 2013 figures there.

Start of 2014 1855 Games: Won 891, Lost 954, Draws 10.

Though your O/P figures were spot on!;)....Were still behind the 50% eight-Ball Lethality, though it shouldn't be too long now before that is rectified!:thumbsu:

What is our record from 1961. Obviously the first 40 odd years were lean.

Nine premierships 1961-91 Just over three decades

Lets see if we can get nine more in the period 2008-2038

Six to go in 23 years. Good chance

Lets not get too bogged down in the qualifying rounds statistics

Yes, my error, it was figures from start of 2013 which was the season we passed the win/loss ration for AFL matches from 1990.

deanc....You wouldn't per chance have access to finals games played records for every Hawk player by any chance???....The only records I have are on current players & those who have played over 20 as published in the AFL Record season Guide!....

Be much obliged if you could provide the stats on this!

Also....If anyone knows how to contact the publishers of said annual, hows about asking them to get the goal-kicking figures right for Most Goals in A season on page 197 in the Hawthorn team page section.....Roughy kicked 75 goals in 2008 & they have yet to include it, also John Peck kicked 75 in 1963 & that is also missing!

I know it's pedantic but those errors really irk me; in what is supposed to be the AFL footballing bible!

Sad to see this kind of thing as it really underlines the fact that we're not going to have the pleasure of watching Mitch and Hodgey playing for that much longer. :(

Burger is one of the oldest and played every game last year, so who knows. Maybe having so many over 30s means its easier to rotate and rest.

These guys have already transitioned into players 'of a certain age' so its just a management issue going forward

On another note which should be cause for optimism ( there I said it), you have to go back to carlton 95 geelong 94 and hawthorn 91 to find teams who won the granny bu 50 points or more who didnt return next year to the granny. They didnt always win mind you.

In fact none did

Heebie and Dicko. Nice effort being up there with all those champions. I think Lekkas and Tallis did well too.

All Crawfs mates (not that theres anything wrong with that) too

Lekkas was a champion player in a poor team, he gave his all in those poor sides and very rarely got the kudos and recognition others did, i would put Condon in that group as well...........

Re Hawks player records for finals, sorry no, but that could be attainable if someone had the time to correlate all the relevant stats.
Some highlights. M Tuck has the record for number of finals played, 39 and Premierships, 7. D Brereton has the record for total goals, 53. Hawks have 5 players in the top 10 of the all time VFL/AFL list (includes G Coventry at No.1 with 111 finals).
Some trivia. C Langford who played in 25 finals kicked a total of 1 goal - his son, Will, who played in his first 3 finals already has 5! Hawks have the VFL/AFL record as consecutive finalists, 13 seasons from 1982 to 1994 which also included a record 7 consecutive Grand Finals from 1983 to 1989. However Hawks also have the VFL/AFL record as consecutive non-finalists, 32 seasons from 1925 to 1956. Hawks new recruit J Frawley, previously at Melbourne for 6 seasons, has never played in a final.

On the other hand it's a good sign to have so many blokes of the current generation up alongside of legends from the 70's & 80's....With Birchall due to join this exclusive company early on in 2015.... A significant factor in delineating the current era of success in comparison with eras past!

Most of the guys on that list played in Multiple Premierships & having a group of blokes playing over 200 games together seems to be a significant factor in contributing to that level of success!

Conan kicked 70 goals wtf?

Mew and Moore 21 each is surprising.

Thought Martello wouldve kicked a fair few more, and Sewell not that many on 32.

Geoff Ablett playing 200 is also a surprise.

That list sends shivers down my spine...some of the names wow. If Dermie didnt miss so many for being suspended so often hed be in there too. Amazing he did so much in only 189 games

From my aging memory, Kel Moore was recruited as a forward, however the advent of Huddo saw him play down back. Things could have been very different.

Big Al when at CHF wasn't such a marking presence but he was big enough to create a contest. Smalls like Lethal and Crimmo would have scored many goals from the crumbs Big Al provided.

Worth mentioning where tuck is concerned, he played through two successful eras of the club, NO ONE will ever beat his record for most wins played in. He played in 302 wins. Very few ever even reach 300 games.
